Both indigo and spicejet are not interested in fresh cpl holders but experienced ones. They both are taking a leaf out of kingfisher which has already inducted about 60 exIAF and NAVY captains to fly as captains. So fresh cpl holders will have to wait for some more years.

Have we ever heard anything directly from Naresh Goyal, Saroj Datta, Aditya Ghosh, Sanjay Agarwal, Mandeep Baweja etc in all this garbage printed by Times of India anytime ?
The only things we hear are news, speculations and expert comment from "highly placed sources" and top officials from airlines who "do not want to disclose their identity".
... and of course, the wise profecy of Kapil Kaul, as always.

AI and JET
AI is going to hire 90 trainees. 40 from the april 2009 batch and 50 cadets. Medicals are going on in mumbai now and are expected to finish by the end of this week. First batch is expected to join and start ground clases in april-may. Heard they might come out with another recruitment for trainees but I highly doubt it.
Jet has also started the sims for the batch (60+) that was put on hold after finishing their ground school. Another batch (60+) which was left with their medicals is also expected to be inducted towards the end of the year. Both batches combined there are about 120-150 trainees. Fresh recruitments will happen only next year.

If I may ask, who is the source of your information ? Your numbers sound accurate ! If the above said is true, then all the unemployed CPL holders are in for another year long wait! Things might go crazy..

The numbers quoted are good for AI, the figures about 9W are grossly out of place.

@ jimmy, TNT
I got the numbers for AI from a friend of mine who is currently undergoing medicals for AI in mumbai. He said there were 40 from the april 09 batch and 50 cadets. All 90 are undergoing their medicals and are all likely to be inducted in seperate batches of about 20-30 this year.
The info about Jet was passed onto me by another friend of mine who in sep 2008 cleared the IPT test but was left with medicals. He met an Official at Jets office recently and he was told that the May-June 2008 batch (about 60-70) will start their sims on the 737s from april and the people from the sep 2008 batch (around 68) will be called for medicals/induction towards the end of the end of the year.

Your info and figures regarding AI are bang on, however your Jet Airways figures are not very accurate.
The batch whose training got frozen for a while had resumed training a few months back and a few of them are nearing completion and about to be released online. (on 737s)
Im not sure about the ATR guys though.
Also .. the size of the batch was more like 30-35 because 9W does not have class sizes to accommodate a batch of 60 at a time.
