@ aryakethan.

Have you converted the Canadian Instructor Rating to Indian Instructor Rating ?

There are not many jobs out here. Your best bet is to talk to the CFI's of flying schools personally by visiting them.
And as far as the pay is concern, I am not sure what is the actual salary for instructors now, but given the abundance of man power, its bound to be low.
All the best.

you cannot convert foreign instructor rating to DGCA FI like your CPL. you need to do 10 hrs Patter flying.(altough many FI's are flying on FATA, but you need to have right contacts to do that). right now flying schools in India have started FI scams. they will quote you a price range from 1.3 to 1.7 lakhs for the instructor rating but without a job. If you ask for a job they will simply refuse. Some flight schools will say "we would conduct an interview for the instructors who fly with us only". Simple they dont need instructors but just want to sell their package.

they wont tell you the pay. Instead will convince you that you should accept whatever you get. I had a chat with a Instructor who joined a FTO in march this year. he draws INR 9k monthy.

Hello everyone,

Any new updates on the job front in India? I've been following this thread for quite sometime, and we have deviated a bit out of the topic. Cheers to everyone participating in this thread, and a special one to the person behind the start of such a thread. It has been pretty helpful, at least to get a small perspective about the employment situation in India.

If any of you guys have any such updates please do post them, as I'm sure it'll be very helpful to me and many other employment seekers like me in and around India.

I was reading the Times of India this morning and I came across a small article on the paper saying that Jet Airways has decided not to renew the contract of 25 of their expat pilots which have got expired on Oct. 30th 2009. Maybe this is a start to a new beginning. Only time will tell, fingers crossed !

Hey All you freshers.. KFA releasing those 100 trainee FOs mostly ATR rated (I have about 10 of my close buddies on that list and in fact I thank god or I should have been there) from payrolls is the worst news you can expect in the current industry situation.. My suggestion is instead of wasting your time in hoping you would get a RHS TurboFan/Prop job very soon.. I suggest its time you guys start working on your alternative Plan B and Plan C.. I think its time you guys accept the very hard reality !
Do what you need to do .. Secure your future.. Keep your license current ! If you are just an high schooler I suggest you join some college and get your degree at the same time you keep your license current ! If you can afford to spend some more money and you can dedicate yourself more.. go ahead and get your Instructor's Rating but dont ask me where are the jobs ? Its a very bad bad situation out there folks ! I am not trying to freak you out ! But its time you secure your future while at the same time you keep your license current !

Also for godsake stop talking about expats being sent away.. The expats in our country are actually helping the airline run.. We still dont have enough qualified Pilots ( by qualified I am not talking about any one less than at least 1000 hours PIC TIME ON TYPE ) .. For godsake these guys are Instructors and Examiners on Ultra Long Hauls and them flying in India is not really a matter of concern for any one less than 1500 hours and an ATPL in hand !

@sf TNT
1. There's nothing like a bond when you join the IAF.
2. Last I heard , they had stopped taking pilots for short service.
3.If you have an Indian CPL and are a graduate you get an age relaxation of up to 25yrs. You need to give the CDS exam.

Pros- You got to be in one of the best airforces of the world..
The pay scales are quite good after the 6th pay commission.
You get to live all over the world & maybe abroad with family(in most cases)
Free medical services even after you retire .
Sporting facilities like no other place in india..
YOU GET TO WEAR A UNIFORM that you can be REALLY REALLY Proud of.

Cons- yo u might have to move every 3-4 yrs from place to place.

Thats the only thing I can think of right now...

Well the SSC is usually 10 years and can be extended upto 14 years. So Well if thats not a BOND then what is it?

There has to be a Bond because they train you, spend money on you and can't just let you go after that without using your services for the required time.

Its the same with Coast Guard, Navy Pilots and IAF.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm not a college graduate though, is that going to be a factor? A bond of 10yrs or 14yrs sounds like a lot! Anyways thanks a lot for your feedback, appreciate it !

I had a word with a friend who is close to 2 particular people yesterday, they hold a respectable post in an airline and call a lot of important shots within, is what he says. I've been told that 2010 looks good (sometime during Jan to March), as a few low budget carriers are planning on recruiting a bunch of pilots for FO's and Commanders. I'm not sure if your going to have to pay for your TR or have a heavy amount of influence on your resume but yeah, I'm just letting you all know what I've been told. Hope this helps anyone in any which way.

We'll have to wait and watch, to see if it really is true or not

With Deccan 360, from what I've heard. Back-door entry - Require someone to push your CV through. - Self-sponsored type rating ! Do the math !

About Aryan Air, any idea about their next openings? Do you have to pay for your own type-rating? What's the scene with them ?

This thread pertains to aviation vacancies, but I find it lacks any information as regards the maintenance department. As a student of maintenance engineering I feel being left out! So guys, don't forget us! I know the scene currently is such that there is hardly anything to report.

Somebody agrees with you I guess:
An aviation analyst said other domestic carriers may follow suit, as the air traffic started moving up. In October, domestic traffic went up to 39 lakh passengers from 31 lakh a year ago.

THIS THREAD IS PRIMARILY FOR THE YOUNG INDIAN CPL HOLDERS LOOKING FOR THAT RIGHT SEAT JOB !
But yea if any one could pass any information that would help any one secure a job any where .. I dont see why anything shouldnt be said..
Anyways.. Best of luck !
