Pilot selection does not consist of 'just hand-eye coordination tests', definitely. Much more than that. Especially for SIA. English proficiency, and interest in aviation are essential too.

@ccoon: 747-300. Though I'm not sure how accurate that piece of news is.

ccoon: I think he's referring to the 747-300 freighter.

Big Top

Well yes... but wasn't the 747-300 retired many years ago?
Sorry, just felt a little blast from the past....

That aside, has anyone succeeded in getting into the cadet program with eyesight near the maximum allowed, ie 500? Or even slightly above for that matter?

Hi guys, just like to know if anyone has got "You have not applied for any positions" status one day after submitting the online application? I got that though. Does that mean rejected?

Are there guys who still got the "Job Application" status one day after submitting the online application?

Thanks and good luck to all applying.

B747-300 were retired a long time ago.

Big Top referred to the B747-400. Something like Jubilee for the 777s.

And the aircraft parked is 9V-SFL, a B747-400F, or also known as the Mega Ark. But I think it will be a thing of the past too since the freighters with the new livery don't have the words Mega Ark on it anymore.

"You have not applied for any position...." means rejected.......

If you see some of the successful application that will led to 1st interview, its sort of remarked "Processing application" in your account.

No, the BIG TOP was the 747-300... MEGA TOP, 747-400.
The A380 would have been known as the ULTRA TOP, if the ridiculous naming convention had not been stopped.

Oh yeah you're right. Forgotten about the Mega Top.

Anyway, all this publicity is not for us. Let the guys in the office decide whether it is better having the Singapore Airlines logo on the engine cowling or not. Or whether it matters at all....

Hierarchy

Hi, this is my first time here. I'm considering becoming a pilot with SIA.

Can any kind soul please tell me the hierarchy system that pilots have to go through?

i.e. Cadet Pilot > ? > ? > Captain

Thanks a lot.

Would appreciate your help

Hello everyone. I am urgently looking for any cadet pilot who is currently undergoing training at Seletar, as I have some personal queries (regarding the training aspect of cadet life) which i would like to pm the person about. I would be very grateful for a response, and a prompt one at that, as I'll be away from 20th Feb. Thank u very much, appreciate it. And thanks to all for making this a great site!

Thanks to you too, overmars.

I would like to ask what is the turnover rate of planes like? How long would i be able to stay in a country before i fly off again? Do i have to fly off again immediately?

Also, what is the pay of Captain Pilots like? Including PPA (on the average). If this is a sensitive issue I do not mind not getting the answer.

Thanks.
