@joseph82,
Hmm, I understand the rationale for giving chances to first time applicants, and to speak, I didn't make it in the final interview. Based on what others say in this forum, it seems rather hard to get a second review. I'm pinning my hopes anyway, because I'm confident if given a chance again I might just make it. I talked to a pilot few months back and he said don't stop trying. Requirements wise, I do meet all specified.
@blomvist
If what you said is true, I hope the status do change. I'm checking every other day for updates.

hi guys just a couple of quick qns.
1. i have heard rumours that SIA calls up almost everyone for the 1st interview as long as you meet the very basic requirements so its quite easy to be called up for the first interview. is this true or just a myth?
2. whats the deal with over weight candidates? are they rejected immediately?
just asking coz i have been called up for the first interview and i am slightly obese so just wondering if anyone knows what happens.
thank you!

BMI of 29.38
quite far from the acceptable range of 18.5-24.9
depends on your luck then..
they take height and weight before you go into the interview room

The Bad news:
Being over-weight will definitely work against you.
In an industry where supply far exceeds demand, even the slightest handicap will work against you.
The Good news:
Well it’s not permanent! You can work on losing weight!
Well my best suggestion to you would be: Highlight your other strengths in the interview. (Amplify your strengths to minimize your weakness)
All the best!

Hi guys,
Is is possible for anyone to shed more light on the medical examinations for the cadet application?
I heard that there's the additional visit to the eye specialist apart from the routine full body check up. Is that true?
I have a friend who would also like to know if having dry eyes would hinder his cadet application.
Your help is much appreciated. Many thanks!!

My friend has passed both interviews and is awaiting his medical appointment. Just wanted to know what to expect for the medical checkup.
He has perfect eyesight and is worried that his dry eyes won't affect his chances. Anyway the only way for him to know is to attend the medical itself and wait for a confirmation or rejection.
Many thanks for your feedback!

@dxdydz why are you asking on your friend's behalf?
weird timing on his medical check up since you will usually get informed of it on a Thursday with the check up on a Friday. BTW the whole medical check up is probably a whole day's affair, with the candidate going for a check up with the eyes specialist, amongst others.
PS the results from the medical check up can really swing either way. ST medical may tell you that you are fine, but you may still get rejected, so there is almost no certainty until you receive the letter of acceptance.
And even then, you are still under probation for the next few years
good luck to "your friend"

Hi guys,
I've been reading your threads and I guess all of you, like myself, applied for the Cadet Pilot position with SQ under the new silkroad software. I applied in February and three days after my application, the word "Application" popped up. About a week later, it was gone. Since then till now, I have received no news about my application. Anyone here facing the same situation? Have you guys received a reply already, since the last thread i see was made in April?
By the way, anyone knows the deadline for the JetStar Asia Ab-initio June intake? Thanks.

Hi Maverick16,
I applied in early Feb, status changed to "Appllication" in March, and my status turned blank quite a few weeks back.
Till now I have not recieved any notice from them too. My gut feel is that it is not a positive thing. Hope I am wrong

if ur application status turns blank, very likely you have been rejected. the few status u will see are "application", "interviewing" and blank. try applying again! dont give up!
