Intake for Feb 20th course
Hi all,
Got some news that some of the short listed candidates who have passed their medicals have received calls from the nice people at SIA to attend the Feb 20th OBS. Anyone else lucky enough to receive this call?
I am still waiting with baited breath...
Cheers!

Hi folks,
I guess the aviation industry is really being hit quite hard by the economic downturn.
This year they are not coming to the annual NUS Career Fair which will be held next week. I was really quite disappointed when I opened my nus email account today and found out that SIA would not be among the list of participating employers.
Last year SIA came and handed out flyers for those interested in the cadetship (and i believe the previous years too). But as I am graduating this year, I couldnt apply then.
Apologies for making you guys read this (i know its not really relevant to the thread); I just had to type it out!

As far as I know, SIA is still conducting 1st interview every week.
If u meet their basic requirement as listed out in their website
AND have filled up the online application correctly,
AND have not attended too many 1st interviews,
I believe u still have a chance.

Cadet Pilot Recruitment in Straits times on 7 Feb 09
SIA had published the recruitment for cadet pilot again on 7 Feb 09 at Straits Times classified again. Trend of one advertisement every 2 months.

You don't have to wait until SIA puts something up on the classifieds before applying. SIA has an on-going recruitment for ab-initio cadets. However, while they are still recruiting, they have almost halved the number of cadets they will take for at least this year. So it's going to be somewhat harder to get in.

Walk in interview in 2007
Had completed the online assessment in the SIA website. The last question asked u if you had applied thru the walk in interview exercise in Dec 2007.
Does anyone know why did they keep asking this question? Remembered they ask during my last unsuccessful application.

do SIA still have verbal reasoning and numerical data interpretation for their pilot selection? or is it just hand eye co-ordination tests now? any info would be great, thnx!

Thanks for the information Starburst3128 and Knightwhosays_NI.
The reduced intakes probably reflects the decline in aircraft passenger traffic. Read in the papers yesterday that SIA is going to park a Big Top in the desert too. Maybe the recruitment rate has been adjusted to meet the replacement rate of retiring pilots (I dont think any crew in their right mind would leave the company in these times)? Anyway, I will just send in my application in the coming weeks.
Nothing ventred, nothing gained (or lost)!!
And all the best to those who are applying or in the process of applying for the cadetship.
