Last I heard they want to do a selection, don't know if it will still hold true given the recent spat of issues. Any news on incoming aircraft orders being delayed on SIA side ? Last heard cadets in jandakot is flying 2 -3 flights per month. This was caused by some issues with maintenance issue or something with the training fleet there.

It simply be that they are unable to train that much cadets now, at most they will just simply resort to hiring ready crews.

SFC172N, what do you mean by SIA wanting to do a selection? Do you mean starting the hiring process again?

jandakot is filled to the brim with cadets last i checked, and flying's not being slowed down deliberately, definitely more than 2-3 flights per month.. guys don't be distraught if hiring doesn't resume this year, take the opportunity to polish your knowledge and nail the interview when hiring resumes.. (next year will be a good bet)

From SASP2:

Educational Standards
An applicant, whether ab initio or requiring an abridged course will not be accepted for training on an approved training course for the issue of a Multi-crew Pilot Licence or Commercial Pilot Licence course unless he hold a General Certificate of Education with passes in five subjects at ordinary level including English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject.

For applicants who possess other equivalent educational qualifications, the DGCA will determine whether their qualifications can be accepted for this purpose.

That depends on which airline you're talking about. If SIA-group, forget it.

hi flying.monkeyz.

1. judging from the SASP's statement on educational requirements, am I right to say that the 5 O levels which must include eng math sci in ONE SITTING is SIA's requirement and not CAAS's?

2. Would I be eligible to apply for SIA's CADET pilot interview if I have 6 olevels credits taken in 2 sitting?

3. Would i be given a chance to sit in for an interview with SQ or MI if i send in my application as an applicant with a CAAS CPL MEIR f/atpl. I have 6 o levels credit which includes eng math sciences in 2 sitting?

hey Chiba, I know a few SQ pilots who joined at 30 - 31. I think the threshold is 32 if I'm not wrong.

Malaysian only? Wow... That's really a strange move if it's true. Now I wonder why would they have to go to Malaysia and look for Malaysian only cadets and not resume the Singapore/PR/Malaysian selection.

If you interpret the SASP strictly, then yes, it is SIA's requirement. But sometimes the rules are "bent", I suppose more so when demand for cadet pilots is high. I went for interview and I didn't have the O Level requirements.

Based on what's going on recently, if you have a CAAS CPL MEIR, your chances of getting into MI is higher than SQ. I think this is due to SQ's advance jet training at MCY, whereas MI cadets jump straight into A320 (and B737 soon) ground school and sims upon obtaining their CPL/IR.

As for the next intake, I've not heard anything so far.

Del-icious, just try, if not you never know. If you decided to re-take o levels, you may wish to highlight this to the interviewers to show that you are determined to meet the requirements as advertised for the cadet pilot position. I heard that 'forever kana reject for cadet pilot programme' applies to candidates whom have made it to the final round, but did not make it past the final round...heeee... ya, sometimes reality arrives, but who cares? Just apply first.

yannisoar, thanks.. I just thought if there are people my age getting into the program, it will be great if they can share in this forum.
