Did the same thing..

Gave it up at the CPL/MCIR level to continue with IT. I now fly for pleasure and have a share in an aircraft, so the addiction is still there.

I simply refused to accept the T's and C's operators...

..what is it you have the bug for? Flying?

If so, why not stay in IT, buy a share in a bug smasher, fly it whenever you want and still be able to support the family and spend time with them? ...

Not too bad

Its wasn't actually too bad. Interesting having a bum engine that wont feather, then doing the approach off centre with low cloud ceiling. Not a bad bit of work. The co was visibly rather worried.
