It may be possible to claim a portion of pilot training as a tax deduction if you are working as an AME at the same time as training for PPL etc.

Worth checking with an accountant and the ATO...

I think it is only possible if a CASA approved testing officer conducted the test (in the UK or where ever) to CASA CIR renewal standards etc.

So the pilot is on $36k and the labourer he/she flies to a minesite to carry out manual labout...
