This happens regularly. NYC had a detailed scan a few years back, and NYPD's aircraft are also equipped with less-sensitive rad detectors that are constantly updating a map of background radiation.

I don't believe water rescue is part of their mission...you may notice the H135's are not hoist equipped. USAF HH-60's served that role for awhile, but not sure if that remains accurate.

Very important point! Standard for most equipment is B+, A- on these plugs (Spectrolab, Cineflex). There are outliers (Shotover) that use A+ polarity, so a reversing/polarity flipping cable is needed...
