Robinson Helipad

Am I missing something here? Why not just land on the tarmac and disembark rather than increasing the risk of an accident by landing on a small platform?

Because it’s a space-saving Halipad? Ooh err

The raised platform is quite a safety improvement: pax are kept clear of the tail rotor (which is out over the safety net), they can't go wandering off into danger should they become confused around the machine, and the rotors are well clear of any passing people and/or vehicles.

Obviously not a space saver but if you have the room and the requirement (high pax movements) it's certainly an option for improved safety

Probably more likely to fall down the stairs and break ones neck than walking into a tail rotor

Because they're demo'ing a helipad for sale, for use in locations that may NOT be surrounded by tarmac?

SPACE-SAVING??

Looks like it is 5 times the width of the skids, you could fit another 4 of those buzzboxes into the hangar with handling wheels.

Yes, like rooftops.

And the space they save is the mounting area on the rooftop. The footprint is minimal. Just 4 steel pillars. (The staircase can really go anywhere.)

One must look at this is comparison to their initial helipad design that Robinson has been offering for many years.
