To us Persians, I guess its somewhat akin to calling the Falkland Islands as Argentinian territory, is to the British.
Are you referring to the Malvinas - stolen from my Argentinian Great Great Great Grandfather while he was chasing a particularly fetching Chica instead of his sheep?
p.s. If you are working Arabian side - stick with Al Khaleej - it is less controversial - never call it "Persian"

Gulf Helicopters
Hi 
Anyone knows if there is any chance of getting a Co-Pilot job at Gulf Helicopters if I don' t have a typerating on any of their helicopters. I can see they are recruiting right now..... I have the mandatory 1000+ hrs on turbine

You will:
1. Work the max hours allowed by duty rules.
2. Receive minimum training.
3. Fight for reasonable travel details
4. Get very thirsty.
5. Enjoy sunny weather.
6. Lose weight.
7. Get up very early in the morning most days.
8. Meet some great people.
9. Have an experience of Arabic Culture (which I personally love).
10. Possibly redefine the word "hot". As it pertains to weather.
11. Learn a great deal about offshore flying and big oil.
12. Learn a great deal about the Bell 412 which is a great machine.
13. Get to shop at the "Lulu Store". If you've been there nuff said. If you haven't you need to see it.
So as you can see it's pretty much the usual. A bit of good and a bit of notso hotso.
The accommodations are pretty good but you are sharing with other pilots or engineers.
I would go back if there was nothing better to do.
My feel from afar is that currently (and this changes month to month and year to year) ADA is the better bet.
Best by far is Aerogulf in Dubai, but Dubai is expensive and very very cool.

The Exchange Rate makes the Gulf look good
With the Gulf currencies directly tied to the Dollar and with the recent change in Exchange Rates the Gulf operators' salaries now look much more attractive. Do you think that there will be much dusting off of CVs in Northern Europe to try to get on to the tax free bandwagon?

Hello,
I'm looking for info regarding recruitment & requirements for the B4 sightseeing ops in DXB.
I've been mostly flying military fixed wings (2500H) and I only have 500 H on single turbine attack helicopters but I would love to do this job (despite some of your valuable comments, I have my own reasons
).
I'm already living and working in DXB for some time and would appreciate if somebody could help with some info or contact regarding this job.

Talk to Falcon Aviation - the quickest contact is probably to go to the Festering City helipad and ask there since they control it (that's Festival City for those who are not there!).
If you're in Dubai anyway, don't forget that Aerogulf also do tourist flights and they may welcome someone for whom they don't have to pay accommodation. Dave Butler is the Chief Pilot on 04 2200331. They use a 206 and a 206L.

Tends to specialise in the cheaper type of goods .. ala Woolworths / Walmart .... tends to be very attractive to persons from the sub-continent!

Well I'm from Canada and I loved the place. There is a separate aisle about a football field in length for each ethnic food type in the area. In the mood for Indian?....aisle 3. Arab food tickle your fancy? Aisle 2. Boring English food? aisle 6. you get the picture.

Or is it essential to have a rating before they will even look at you?
Have they been forced to train co-pilots up like the rest of the world's off shore operators....
