The Truth about FAS EC130B4 Tours in DUBAI
The EC130 Flights operating out of FC and around Dubai are boring, boring and more boring. The same tour, over and over.
You will share a small luxury apartment rent free during your on months.
No pay during your off time.
Annually salary: Approximately $80K tax free
You will be hired to just fly the tours - nothing else. GUARANTEED !
Dubai is expensive and you will be treated like a 2nd class citizen.
With all said, Dubai has it's charm - but I would not consider it a long term job.

FAS Working Conditions
All I can say is if you take a position with FAS when you do your shopping don't buy GREEN BANANAS?????. They have a very poor management ethos and tend to gloat about their sackings. You will find that they blame everyone but themselves when things go wrong.

And what is "tax free"
Don't know anything about any countries other then the US, but the mere fact that you are working overseas does NOT make your salary tax free. Be very carefull declaring yourself a foreign resident, read the tax laws on www.irs.gov

Yes, yes...i did the search first, didn't see anything recent.
What's the pay package looking like these days, last I talked to them something was in the works, but it's been a while now.
I see they're expanding, and advertising...good sign, I reckon.
Thanks for any non-smart assed reply! PM if you feel the need.

The new accommodation (near the international airport) is under construction, there is what appears to be a 30% pay rise in the offing (ending up at just over $600 per day, with new entry level requirements for copilots (1000 hours or so).
That should stir the pot!

I'm still interested in a month-on/month-off, or 8/4, or some similar arrangement over there, but I'd heard that they all require ATP's. I've got more than the required time (a little short on actual IMC), but I don't quite have the ATP. I wouldn't mind tours, or oil support, or whatever and I'm old enough to behave myself, take the money and go home.
Oh, and I've got time in the BK117, BO105, AS350, B206 and not quite 3,700 total in helicopters. An IR, of course.
Can you recommend a place to contact? Thanks.

Contacts for Gulf Operators??
Guys,
I am actively seeking work and was looking for some help with direct contacts or e-mail addrsses for any of the companies in the Arabian Gulf. I have done a search with no joy and applied through the companies on line applications but it all seems very slow

Any Help or PM'S would be great.
Cheers
Ramos

From my understanding, and if what people are saying is true they are overworking their pilots who are not real happy with situation at present but who knows. I don't think anything will really change until they make some big changes to the upper management if thats what they call themselves.

error in your thread title
I appologise for interrupting your thread however, I could not see an error such as this go unchecked, especially when you are sorting emplyment in the region.
My good friend, a place by the name of "Arabian Golf" does not exist. I believe the place you are reffering to is the Persian Gulf. There is however Arabian Sea, which is south of the Persian Gulf.
World Atlas - Map of Middle East (Asia) -- Map in the Atlas of the World
I know this may sound a little trivial, but could I kindly request you edit the title to reflect the correct terminology? To us Persians, I guess its somewhat akin to calling the Falkland Islands as Argentinian territory, is to the British.
okok this not a wind up and we do not want to go into territory debates here.
Again, appologies for interrupting.

While I agree that the proper name for that body of water is the Persian Gulf, I fail to find any country called Persia in the region....So, how is it that you refer to yourself as Persian? ;-)
BTW, I lived in Iran for 7 years and have many fond memories of the country and its wonderfull people. I still can't find a good Sabzi! (sp)

Guys,
Wasn't meant to offend anyone! Just thought I would keep the question simple as to Arabian Gulf, Which in my small mind meant as many countries the were Arab like or middle eastern. There was never meant to be a generic type cast I was purely looking for contact details for companies in that region(persian gulf region!).
If anyone has taken offence please do not issue a fatima whitbread on my head it was just a misunderstanding on my part.
Still no contact information recieved but would appreciate any that is willing to be given.
Sorry
Ramos

OK, google Gulf Helicopters and Abu Dhabi Aviation, they are looking for pilots.
Fill the online application forms and follow up by Email or voice.
Saudi Aramco is another possibility, same way to go about it.
They are pretty quick in getting back with you if you fill the bill.
They want an ATPL/H though.

Take your offensive uneducated comments elsewhere. In the words of Temone, lay down before you hurt yourself.
Ramos:
You did not offend me. It was a mistake made unknowingly. Good luck and I hope you make the contacts you desire.
Froggy Bottom:
You are absolutely correct. However, most Persians call themselves Persians as the name Iran is synonymous to the nasty mullahs (love the religion – don’t like the way they enforce it). And my friend, next time you are in Sydney, I would be delighted in sharing cholo-kabab and sabzi with you.
Ok enough of hijacking Ramos’ thread...back to you Ramos

You would be surprised how much about the area "griffo" DOES know!
Perhaps it is you being a bit oversensitive and taking offense where none is inferred .... the area now often referred to as the "Arabian Gulf" (from the Arabian side) ..... particularly by those who still live there.

Since July 2007 this thread has been titled " Flying in the Persian/Arabian Gulf".
I see no need nor reason to make an issue of the thread title, especially since more than a year has passed since the change was made to allow for personal sensitivity on both sides of the Gulf
