Virgin Blue hiring
I know of people recently just been awarded a start in course that was on hold for just over two years. Another took B777 had been waiting for exactly two years.
Calling it an eject course won't get you far considering that's where you'll most likely start if your lucky enough to get a start date. 737 course in May, all internal pilots. Might be another ejet course in July.

I received a 'Hold File' up date email today....I have been on the 777 Hold for 16 months. It stated 'we have had a number of B777 courses confirmed up to and including start dates in May 2013 and have finalised offers for these intakes. At present we are yet to have confirmation on any further courses for 2013. We appreciate your patience........' Apparently, and this may have already been stated in the forum but I honestly cant be stuffed looking back through all the pages, domestic hold file applicants are getting the offers first and then the 777 Cruiser Holds will be looked at after that. I'll be patient for as long as it takes...hopefully not too far away

I got an email stating something about possible Embraer stuff. But i'm getting annoyed at the whole thing, not about getting a start, but the lack of responce i have received from any email ever. I take it the HR department just goes on FB all day unless they have a course?

I'm in the same position as you and feel the same frustrations (also got the email today)
I don't think people on this forum will give you much console, however, out of the graciousness of my aging old heart I will share how I deal with these quarterly emails that break the bad news.
-think about when you were in flying school or your first job and you saw a jet flying over, and what you'd give to be flying it
-think about the time, effort and money it took to get the interview done
-think about how many other people would kill to be in your position (i recently met a guy who is living in a van, driving around the country trying to find his first job but keeps getting knocked back... GA is still very alive in it's monstrous glory! This guy would give more than his "left one" to be in our shoes)
-consider if it would actually be better working for any of the oppositions (from what I hear, VA sh!ts all over them).
I'm not saying your wrong for being frustrated. I'm completely in your boat. Just trying to help

I hear you there guys. I got the same email about some possible ejet stuff. It's been a long road to get to this position and there is a huge cue of people behind us who are waiting to get a call for an interview. We just gotta focus on the the good things out of this whole situation! We will get our shot!

Has anyone heard on the grapevine that virgin will be also doing the hiring and appointing of new pilots on to the ATR ?
As funny as it seems, I know for fact that the recent online form you filled out for virgin aus asked if you had ATR time and how much of it you had. Also know from a fairly trusted source that virgin have actually employed the last round or two of flighties and then shuffled them across to Skywest for ATR jobs. Anyone from XR that can confirm it ?
Oh and the cadets are going on the ATR.
Not as far out as it sounds.

It's far out!
XR will maintain their own recruitment process and the cadets are only there for 3 years. The flighties however is a very different story.

You angling for a job in 'mainline' one dollar?
Townsville refueller reckons ATR's arent making any money and Q400's and/or sukhoi superjets are being considered for their speed.......

Word on the street is that you may never see recruitment directly into Virgin (E-Jet, B737) again. As the buy out of Skywest has opened up a whole new pool of internal candidates and pilots (200+) that are now within the Virgin Group and are potentially able to bid for E-Jet and B737 FO positions. The Virgin/Skywest Cadetship will also start to produce fruit in the next 6-12 months. So the entry level into Virgin looks like it may now be either the F50 or ATR.

I'll take what ever is on offer...
However it seems a pity that the job I/we were interviewed for was for "domestic first officer"....
Then that changed to the possibility of "international cruise FO".....
Now it may be for "regional turbo-prop FO"
Would be a sideways step for most!
Ah well, that's aviation for you!

These are the facts;
At least another 3 courses between now and September.
At this stage Skywest pilots and if the Tiger deal is approved their pilots will not jump the que. EBA voted included a merged date of joining list for VAA, VAI and VANZ only. Come 2015 you may find Skywest and Tiger pilots also join this list.
The cadets are employed by VAA and will only spend 2-3 years with Skywest and the cadet intake will be less than 12 per year.

What seniority number does a Skywest pilot have in Virgin Australia?
How many Cadets were on the first course and when do they come on line?
Has the next Cadet course been selected and if so how many on that course?
JB does know the plan!
