Aussie,

15k down payment on endorsement (reduced from 30k), year 1 ejet fo salary ~95k (up from 85k) and the gap between 737 has been closed a little bit. Also I like the idea of 5 day trips, but thats just me

Will be interesting to see if the EBA gets voted in, I believe the 737 group are not that happy with it, and they are the majority. Think the vote closes this weekend.

If it gets voted up, will make a start on the E-Jet not so much of a punishment!

atlas, that is not quite correct. Proposal has VAA paying for the endorsment (no upfront out of pocket for new guys), in return they reduce your first year salary by 15k.

Here's a bit of comparison.

50-110 Seat aircraft.

In 2012, Level 1 FO - $97101. Level 3 (2000+ hours on company A/C) - $114756.

A 10 years Captain in a certain Regional service with an uber aircraft with a similar sitting capacity. $114,417!

Excluding other benefits from either companies, and no wonder VA is having piles and piles of employment applications!

grrowler,

sorry about that, you are right. either way my point was 15k vs 30k, which is a better deal

Did I read that correctly?

E-Jet only for new joiners? Can't go to the 737 even if the applicant has an endo and hours?

How secure is the hold file?

I've heard at J* you drop off the end after 12 months on the hold file and have to reapply. Do VA do anything like that? Anyone heard of anyone getting a spot on the hold file, then not getting a start date through no fault of their own?

Triple certainly hope not....I along with others on hold file been advised that it could be at least 12 months before start date. Having said that in my interview the panel noted that no one as of yet has got to the 12 month stage before getting a start. I guess we all just have to sit tight.

its ok triple, virgin doesn't do crap like that. but I wouldn't be surprised if the wait is >12 months.

It may be a bit of a wait, but things can also change quickly too.

Most of our course had about a 7-8 month wait, and when it did happen it was fairly quickly (around 4 weeks notice).

From memory one of the updates we received whilst in the hold pool stated there was no "expiry" date as such (at the time).

Congratulations to all who have been successful and are waiting
You have a lot to look forward to!

Turb Eddy,

when you say 7-8 month wait, is that from interview date or holdfile notification? (Bout a 3-3 1/2 month difference for us thats all).

Cheers Multi

Did anyone else receive and e-mail from V today offering a position on the VAI hold as well, for possible Dec/Jan intake? I am a bit confused about this offer. I read a number of possible meanings:

1.) We have projected less intakes on the domestic side of things and we're oversubscribed on the VAA hold now.

2.) The wait for domestic is going to be very long (second half of '13) and you may need to complete extra assessments if you want to remain on the hold/accept a position. You can get around this by jumping on the VAI hold and joining V sooner.

3.) We project a large movement of 777 crzfo's into domestic next year.

Having said that, it does mention that if you decline the 777 offer you will still be eligible for domestic FO.
Can anyone elaborate?

The rumour is that VA is about 150 pilots short at the moment. My guess is they are waiting for the finalization of the EBA before releasing their plans. So my advise is don't go too far away.
