Virgin Blue hiring
I see if the new EBA get's voted in, the cost of the endorsement for new hires will drop to $15k.... That's gotta be a good thing, .
Perhaps Jetstar will follow suit one day.......... yeah, unlikely.

Email was sent to all applicants advising that Virgin are not recruiting at the moment and therefore are not reviewing any new applications. They anticipate recruitment "activities" to commence in late 2013. They are encouraging you to continue to update your application. So it's not anything new. It just confirms that for those who have had an application in for a few years that the wait continues and to start getting comfortable where you are now Good luck to those on the hold file!

Guys, I wouldn't be surprised if the suggested slow down/kickstart of courses this year is linked to the outcome of the EBA.
There is a 737 course slated for around May, but that will be filled internally, as has already been pointed out.
The talk of 40 slots on the ejets was pretty close to the mark, and with the Alliance contract coming to an end soon, I would not be surprised to see that figure remain in tact. Have even heard funny rumours about ejets and moves west!!
There are no command slots slated before the end of this year.
It has been pretty quiet here for a while, just sit tight and rest assured in the knowledge that things can change very quickly, particularly if the company has some certainty with regards to EBA's etc.
Hope your questions are all answered sooner rather than later.

Hey O/D
Thanks for the good info.
40 is a considerable number... Just wondering if you can shed any light on how this number has been arrived at? (ie fleet transfers to B737... New aircraft... Alliance contract ending).
With these things in mind, 40 is still a big number

That information was not broadcast internally in any official sense, merely picked up earlier this year in scuttlebut around sim sessions, ep's, crm, talking to checkies etc. That number was fairly consistent each time the topic arose, and some of those courses have already been filled.
I am not sure if any potential command courses were part of that magical 40 number, but with no command slots for the next 7-8 months, that number could potentially halve. Commercial are still sorting numbers out, so nothing is ever really set in stone.
The transfer of business over to VAI for the Bali flying, if it goes ahead, may have some sort of impact as well. Around 70ish pilots are over to that list, and its impact on residual slots is not really known either.
I guess the point of my post was to help maintain a glimmer of hope for those waiting for a response re start dates. For every story of no more courses for the rest of the year, there are others that suggest otherwise.
