Geez, where is a Moderator when you need one?

Oh yeah - posting pics of a geriatric pommie car - albeit a moderately sexy one!

This is an AVIATION forum people - not Two Friggin Wheels magazine!

Dr

PS: For the record - my pic of a super sexy Voodoo blue 6 L V8 Commodore SSV was a very interesting addition to a post that was full of aviation content - memories of CountryAir Cherokee 6's

Wrong. Jags are only marking their territory!

Not around here I hope, or they would close the thread due to thread drift!

Having owned 2 jags in the distant past ( a 3.8S and a series II XJ6) I have to say there are startling similarities to owning a Chipmunk!

But an "E" Type still makes me catch my breath!

Yes it is the original Lucas alternator but like all engine accessories - starter, distributor, carbies etc - it has been overhauled.

I think 1966 was the first year to have the 4.2 liter XK engine and an alternator fitted. 1961 to 1965 E Types had a 3.8 liter XK engine and Lucas generator installed.

TW, banjo? watchit....

We have quite a few musos, a drummer and banjo player(and legendary doctor) in town.
Coupla bands as well.

A gentleman is a man who can play banjo but doesn't.

The high speed limo

Owning a Jag should be mandatory training for pilots. They are machines that attract attention and are fun to drive.
They are also capable of high performance which results in much excitement. (I think they are female).
But they need much love and attention, and are sometimes hard to start. (more evidence that they are female.)
I once found a MK9 jag with low mileage and bought it. It truly was a high speed limo, but was unreliable. The radiator boiled on long trips and no-one could fix it. It did that once too often and was replaced with an Australian built ford.
I found that this english car was fitted with an american air conditioner (by the poms) and english v belts are different from american v belts, so the interface was wrong.
I still frive a ford.
Pilots have to learn to operate finniky, fussy machines that need much love and attention, and Jags are good training for that.

The Jag Capital of Oz must be Copley SA.

Now that IS nice............

Looks like 1993/94 or is it later? 3.2 or 4.0 liter? My XJ40 has the 3.2 liter engine; should have a top speed of 220 kph - but takes until next Friday week to get there!

My XJ40 has the full leather and burl walnut interior - and crappy steel wheels and plastic hub caps! I've been looking for a set of factory mag wheels for a 1993 XJ40.

How much do you want for the factory mag wheels?

(I have a few spares if you need them, including three center consol circuit boards - air con controls etc - and access to heaps more spares. Let me know if you need them.)

Is that before, or after, all the inside panelling falls off Forky?

Wouldn't buy a Holden ever, too cheaply built.
