Gooday JAMAIR
Let me see, COEN perhaps? The next would be Mareeba, and if I was in that pic.....I would look like the freak, be like Dickey Knee.
As for the Tiger Country, it looks familiar except your photo was taken at a much greater height. The koala's up there left more dung on the ground the day we all went through! And just out of Mareeba is a lotta tiger country, in fact I think its even too rough for tigers!
Not sure about the island though.....did I go near there?

Good one Jaba, 'tis Coen indeed - although been a while since anyone landed on the strip in the pic. The river gorge is the Barron below the falls, on a 'visual' departure ex CS.
Hiya Chuck - you musta given those kg to me

Visual Departure hey? We had one out of ATN....... @ FL_Powerlines + 50 , well it was almost that, had to wait for the ground to fall away below us. Was a lot of fun, and thanks for catching up for lunch, your local wx advice was a bonus!
OK here are some more, hope you enjoy!
And what is this Jamair?

The wind farm near Ravenshoe - bit bloody lower than I'd like to be around there
The escarpment near Chillagoe - looks fabulous in the wet, big streams of water running off it.
I took off into the clag that morn and didn't see dirt again till the minima at COE off the NDB approach; same again on rtn to CS, ILS down to 500-odd ft. Didn't think you'd get away.
The other one I put up is Double Island, the start of the CS 15 GS. Looks a bit different at low tide.
Did the boys come over the top on take off at zot feet at the End of the Road to get you outa bed ??

Early morning starts for Fishing Charters and departures ensure we beat them to it, I do recall some low passes....... did you organise that or is it a SOP?
J
PS The bluff is known as WALSH'S BLUFF I am told, about half way between Chillagoe and Port Douglas

One from my recent wanderings!
600' AMSL, 600 m, generally one-way, up-hill landing and down-hill TO! Note the power-line at the top of the hill.
I have landed a C210 over the power-line and down the hill into a stiff breeze, but it is a little hard on the nerves as the ground falls away from under you as you flare!
Also landed an M20J up the hill at night to the light of four jam tins burning diesel. Won't try that one again!

600 Agl?
oh oh , forky..... I know ,....I landed a 210 wit your mudder on board over that power line.... no stiff headwind , but I did go round once to make sure I didn't stuff up....oh and I remember one of your 'mates' [very scarce breed] landed a c185 over it at night with no runway lights with me in the backseat....that was before I understood how bloody dangerous aviating is. I said to him 'I bet you can't do that from the other end'....but he said "I used to when I was single!!!!!!!".......
You mix wth crazy people....it's a wonder I've survived.
Jaba 's been there.

Heya Jamjar!
Nah, its a bit further north-west than that. I didn't post it for anyone to guess its location - just for interest. I doubt that any in here other than that ring-in flopt (describes his typical landing!), and Jaba have been in there.
Jaba has an aerial pic which he might post if he ever turns up!
Visiting aircraft are not encouraged!
