Yeah, they tore themselves to pieces that day though. They were not constructed properly (the Maxi-boxes that is) and not much survived! We ended up landing and handing over the food to an armoured unit there.

Nice work Morno...Karumba Sunset is the last one, complete with a nice wine and a BBQ full of fish fillets from the days hunting!

King Air is at Normanton, and the choir were on TI for a couple of days. Along with FTDK's mates from CASA who ramped anything that moved, and even grounded two .

Hey DF - aeroplane porn!

Oldies but goodies, huh?

Flew the FTDK for the first time in 3.5 months today. Up to Cairns to have the TSO146a upgrade on the Garmin 430 completed. She still purrs along nicely!

Tinnie. VH-PNH - that the one that pranged near Kerema or the one that became P2-SEA?

A M@cair Porter at Mendi. The pilot must have carried a tent and a week's supply of kai to get there from Lae!

I remember Parker departing Goroka in the Porter for Lae. Arrived back an hour later, winds too strong, not enough motion lotion to get there!

From memory, the Porter had an MTOW of 4,800 pounds, which was ludicrous. They were certified to 6,100 pounds and Air America operated Garrett powered Fairchild Porters at 7,000 pound. I was having a correspondence argument with DCA in Port Morbid to lift the MTOW, and winning, when Parker ground looped SEA at Karimui. That ended the argument over MTOW increase and started the end of the Porter's days in PNG.

Bentleg

It's mid-downwind from the 2nd row, RHS of a C182 (or maybe C172).

It looks very red but it isn't Bourke, Bre, Cobar, Tibooburra, Wee Waa or Wal-jay. In fact, all that Darling country is a bit more 'beige' than that.

So I have no fckn idea.

OK here goes

Nope - NSW

I reckon its somewhere in the southern hemisphere.....possibly that largeish island off the west coast of NZ
Yep absolutely right

It looks very red but it isn't Bourke, Bre, Cobar, Tibooburra
Thats right but you are VERY close. All round it in fact. The RFDS KingAir was there doing a fortnightly clinic when we landed.

And this is the main street and pub where we stayed after landing

Enough clues?
