RAT**** and 185WAGON RE CJT

Thanks for the mention of CJT.
Yeah mate of mine D.Brffa owned that 185 ...and yes it was to go to the south pole back in the eighties to pick up the guys who were retracing the explorer SCOTTS footsteps. When the ship carrying it arrived down in the ice the ships hull was crushed and CJT was hauled off the ship in the nick of time.
Soutern Quest or something the ship was called.
Briffa and I were both based at RAAF amberely ground staff in those days.
Many a DZ jump trip was flown in that machine. Briff kept it running like a swiss watch and being a LAME helped.
Not too many pilots were allowed to fly her as she was a real horn machine with a "HAIRY CHESTED IMAGE" as one young lady used to say
Glad to hear she is still flying.

Two ALA's in WA - one no longer used (but easy to identify) and the other a lot harder.

Cheers.

Signature,

You are correct with pic 1. Pic 2 is a station strip out in the Gascoyne region - Ballythunna. The owners used to run a weekend rodeo event that attracted hundreds of people from near and far.

Regards.

Yep, its still there. Not sure why, but for some reason the pics didn't load one above the other, but side by side.... If you scroll to the right of the Alabaster photo all will be revealed

Talgai Homestead, Allora, Qld!

Where's my lollipop?

Dr

PS: G'day Jaba - I survived another lap in "The Beast" this morning. Discovered the manifold pressure guage was over-reading 2" against the EDM800. 1000', 2500/real 25" (70% hp), IAS 180 kts - 20 kts into the yellow arc = 185 kts TAS!
