and your RG endo was done in an RG where you have to like, pump the gear up and down?
Nah Pyro, my first retractable endorsement was done with Gill Layt in a green Mooney Super 21 VH-MWB. It had a big lever between the two front seats that operated the gear. When the gear was down the lever was upright and locked in under the panel, and when the gear was up the lever locked down between the seats.

VH-MWB was put in the drink off Newcastle in the 70's by a pilot who ran a tank dry and couldn't get it started again quickly.

Seems every Bonza I have flown ends up at Lilydale!
BE35 VH-FWE (ex Stanbroke Pastoral Company - new in 1966?) now at Lilydale (or was until recent wheels up!)
BE36 VH-FCT (bought new in 1974 to replace FWE at Stanbroke) now at Lilydale (FCT = Fort Constantine = Stanbroke property at Cloncurry)
BE35 VH-CFK at Lilydale

Where are:
DLQ (Debonair)
PAD (Debonair)

So Pyro, that second pic looks like the dash of a Jabiru that was in the Jimbour gaggle! Did you manage to bum a ride with Jaba?

And here was me thinking the 'shagged batt' would have meant hand-swinging the prop. Soon as I saw the length of the video I knew I was wrong - I dont know anyone who can start an engine by hand in one minute 53!

Pffft! You don't know you're born. We used to do the NT News paper run at night in C210's.

Our predecessors used a 182.

Daylight comes after a long night -- This day they had some hassles at the paper printers and the departure was delayed by about 2-3 hours. From memory a new setup was being trialed whereby the papers were picked up in BNE, fuel in LRE, Crew change and fuel in Isa, DN, TNK, then AS - then ferry back to TL. Radar was in the OFF mode - had severe cavok

Someone got me started on these pics so some more random ones from around the traps:
This storm

Spun that around on the tarmac, relocated the bungs and gave a free compressor wash.

Sunrise somewhere on the way to MK

Night moonscape somewhere between MK and RK
