Can’t understand the logic of blowing the bridges if they expect to keep using them. Perhaps an indication that the canal and water supply to Crimea was their only objective in Kherson and they aren’t going to press north but turn east or west.

More than 100 municipal deputies from different cities of Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Veliky Novgorod, Samara, Ryazan, Yoshkar-Ola and others) signed an open letter condemning the “special military operation” against Ukraine announced by Putin.

Dissention in the ranks ? The lever to stop this ? |
Putin's talk of "denazifying" and "demilitarising" Ukraine certainly sounds like this is not just about securing the two eastern provinces but likely extends to regime change and installing a puppet - on the basis that turning Ukraine into a client state, Belarus stylee, is the best way to stop future Western military support to the current Ukraine and take NATO expansion off the table...

Putin, this morning, reminded the World that Russia has a formidable nuclear arsenal. He then said that anyone who interferes with his plans will face consequences such as they have never seen in their history.
For me, the inference is crystal clear - he will nuke anyone who gets in his way. This is the start of WWIII. |

Deep strike 'em to demonstrate to the part of the Russian public, you know the ones who are the equivalent of our Brexit idiots (aka they ones who go for all that wrestling grizzly bears nonsense that Putin panders to) that Ukraine is not as remote as they think N. Deal with it. |
