There was claims a few days ago that Putin has transferred his family to a nuclear bomb shelter in Siberia. Was in many of the medias including Daily Fail et al so some salt with it.
If true, maybe he is in the same safe haven staring at his own football.

I wonder if he's heard of Gen. Galtieri?

NutLoose 3rd Mar 2022 08:24

Maybe it’s a rerun of a 1945 bunker….please, I hope so.

jolihokistix 3rd Mar 2022 08:49

How many others ended up down a hole?

dead_pan 3rd Mar 2022 08:50

Paranoid much?? I wonder if its to protect himself from the people around him? I wouldn't be at all surprised if he fears a putsch, people whispering and manouevring behind his back.

Interesting to see Lavrov's interview which was run live on Sky this morning. Usual batsh*t stuff, but he did refer to "the sanctions from hell", so clearly they have are already having some effect.

Mount Yamantau or Kosvinsky Kamen?
The Russian Cheyenne Mountain(s).
But trying to work out where the oligarchs would have landed their Gulfstreams for the supposed war council.
No paved airfields nearby from the looks of things...

There was a link somewhere in this thread (or was it in the jet blast thread)to track the movements of the oligharcs jets on FR24, I just can't find that right now. I wonder if that link would tell tales of the whereabouts of the oligharcs if they've really summoned somewhere east of Ural.

NutLoose 3rd Mar 2022 09:17

Here is the tracking link

If he is in the bunker because he fears his own people, which seems highly plausible, what's the exit strategy? Hard to see the opinions of those he fears swinging massively in his favour, also don't see him taking the 1945 option, but the alternatives all look pretty bad (for everyone).

dead_pan 3rd Mar 2022 09:20

The US is to set up a 'Kleptocapture' task force in Monaco to go after the assets of oligarch's linked to Putin's regime. Looks like a fun job.

On which note, I bet Abramovich is sweating about liquidating his assets in London and elsewhere in Europe, him now being a 'person of interest'.

‘Game-changing’ drones helping Ukraine in battle for the skies

Article &
photo in The Times.

Snip:-

The Ukrainian military has been using “Punisher” drones that can target fuel storage, ammunition supplies and electronic warfare stations up to 30 miles behind enemy lines.

Eugene Bulatsev, an engineer with the Ukrainian designer UA-Dynamics, said that the electric drones were “game-changing” and had completed up to 60 “successful” missions since the invasion began.

Leo Blavatnik?? Bejesus, forget about Cecil Rhodes, Oxford Uni are going to have to get the sign writers in:

The Blavatnik School of Government

"Our mission is to inspire and support better government and public policy around the world."

Err, does that include violent regime change??

Thanks NutLoose, you are fast!

Unfortunately it is down now (see the developers notes from yesterday) so isn't much of use in this occasion.

NutLoose 3rd Mar 2022 09:43

They should cancel the fuel cards of the oligharcs jets which would mean cash to refuel.

dead_pan 3rd Mar 2022 10:27

Are the use of these drones another example of a Russian own-goal? Its been reported that Russian forces don't have widespread access to mil grade comms, and are instead having to rely on mobile phones and OTS walkie-talkies - the latter which operate on similar frequencies to commercial drones.

Related to this, the EW environment does seem to be rather benign, possibly another consequence of their comms limitations?

The Atlantic has an article regarding having conscript reserves. This was discussed earlier in the topic, before Putins hordes invaded Ukraine.
