What total bloody nonsense. The Chechens have, until now, only been present in propaganda videos. There isn't a limit of numbers at the front: they could have been there fighting if they (their commanders ) had wanted that.

A rather nice message from the Ukrainians to the UK on the eve of the Coronation:
link from reddit
...re the bit at the end; if they ask nicely they can have 2 of them for a very reasonable price (we might even pay them to take them off our hands - but don't tell WEBF)

Zelensky was in The Hague (where I live) yesterday. It was impressive how low key it was. A bit of beefed up policing around the royal residence in the afternoon as we drove past. A couple of Marechaussee 139s heading off to Rotterdam The Hague airport late afternoon. A pity there was no opportunity to seem him.

Rumors are saying a joint defence assistance announcement between australia and the US last week of may. Rumors are saying either ex RAAF F-18's or more likely to me, Australia's M1A1 SA to be returned to the US then transferred to Ukraine and expedited delivery of some SEPv3's to australia for training. Others are saying Hawkai PMV but if so what the US has to do with them unless they are going to paying for some / all of them

Prigozin comments that without munitions he is senselessly wasting his troop, then one assumes that with ammunition, he is merely senselessly wasting his troops and ammunition. So far his talent has been to loose more people per metre than any other brilliant strategist since Stalingrad.

Why Russia is running out of shells?

Whereas the Wagner's shell hunger is real, ascribing it to the ill intentions of bureaucracy may be somewhat simplistic. It reflects the peculiar structure and the peculiar history of the Russian military manufacturing base…

Lurch pointing to thirty bodies of his Wagner troops killed in a day then swearing “Shoigu! Gerasimov! Where are the f*cking shells!”

I find it ironic that we can see the thirty odd blood stained bodies as he shines his torch around the gathering, yet someone has bleeped out the swearing so as to not offend the viewer.. unreal.

Again a quote only so it does not auto upload in case anyone does not wish to see bodies.

scroll down the link for film with subtitles.

Jesus, more incendiary shells on Bakhmut, it makes you wonder how they survive under that.

It sounds like Lurch is making direct threats against Shoigu and Gerasimov now and he is admitting to tens of thousands of losses.

If you're out of HE shells, you use what you have, and let Russia take the blame. Two Ps game.

From the New York Times today:
A car bombing wounded a prominent Russian nationalist writer and killed his driver on Saturday, state media reported, the second high-profile incident in Russia in less than a week that the authorities referred to as a terrorist act.

The state-run Tass news agency said that the writer, Zakhar Prilepin, was injured but conscious. Preliminary information showed that an explosive device had been planted under Mr. Prilepin’s car in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod, Tass reported, but did not say who was believed to be behind the attack.

The temperature in Russian-occupied Crimea is rising. First, impacts with smoke plumes reported from Dzhankoi. Secondly, the Russian occupational authorities have closed the Kerch Bridge, as well as all ferries due to fears of attacks.

Interesting article about Himars being jammed.

"https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2023/05/06/ukraine-himars-software-rockets-russia-jam/ ( may be pay-walled )

Ukraine has been forced to update the software on its Himars rockets because Russian forces have learned to jam their GPS guidance systems.

Considered one of Ukraine’s most impactful weapons and credited with helping to turn the tide of the war against Russia, Himars have become less effective over the past few months, CNN reported, citing a group of US, British and Ukrainian sources.

One Pentagon source described the effort to outwit Russian electronic warfare experts who have been ordered to counter Himars as a game of “cat and mouse”.

The first Himars systems arrived in Ukraine in June 2022 and had an immediate impact on the battlefield. With a range of up to 60 miles – three times that of most regular artillery – they were able to hit Russian command headquarters and supply depots miles behind the front lines.

Military analysts said that Himars set up Ukraine’s rapid recapture of territory held by the Kremlin around Kharkiv in northeast Ukraine in August and Kherson city in Nov

An intelligence leak from the Pentagon this year showed that the US and Ukraine were giving “high priority” to tracking down and destroying Russian Zhitel R-330Zh jamming stations, which are often deployed in military trucks, ahead of Ukraine’s much-talked-about counteroffensive.

“We will continue to advocate/recommend that those jammers are disrupted/destroyed to the maximum extent possible,” CNN quoted a document from the Pentagon intelligence leak as saying.

The Kyiv-based Ukrainskaya Pravada newspaper reported in April how Ukrainian special forces were mounting missions deep into Russia-controlled areas to hunt for jamming systems and relay their position back to artillery to destroy.

The leaked intelligence report also said that the jammers disabled other “smart munitions” such as GPS-guided shells fired by howitzers, and aerial bombs dropped by warplanes, that have been fitted with the US Joint Direct Attack Munition kit, which converts standard unguided bombs into precision weapons.
