Good to see. Russian mines are a problem for all. (They should have allowed the Ukrainian sweepers in too.)

An FSB agent group, which included two military officers and their accomplice, were detained in Odesa

The agents were searching for the locations of air defense systems that cover Odesa. In case of detection of "necessary" targets - [they] covertly photographed them and marked the corresponding geolocation on Google maps. The traitors also installed camouflaged wireless magnetic cameras on the territory of the seaport of Odesa.

For conspiracy, enemy agents used cab services, and their accomplice disguised her appearance by constantly changing wigs.

The traitors face life imprisonment.

Bad news if true

https://www.focus.de/politik/etikett...260100640.html

This article- quoting the „RIA-Novosti“ news agency - claims that the Russians have captured an intact ATACMS guidance system *. Serial numbers on the system supposedly show that it was supplied from a US Army depot in Alabama.

* not specified exactly what is meant

Can some of the more enlightened members explain why in the minesweepers photo three of the seemingly identical boats have very distinctive wake’s whereas the larger and the smallest vessels don’t?
Asking out of interest only.

Cheers

If they can improve their defense by this knowledge, they would have kept this secret. Or did any party distribute their knowledge of the newest enemy weapon in WW2?

It's the propulsion system. The three ex-RN Sandowns have Voith-schneider cycloidal propellers which are optimised for slow speed positional control. The other two ships have conventional props on a single shaft.

The RIA article, in Russian, refers to detonation functionality, not guidance.

Why ? Newest weapon ? Only for Ukraine:: this system is now out of service with the US, so they will not spend a dolllar to alter anything and I'm sure Ukraine won't be able to. If they can show photos of legit serial numbers, it will aid their propaganda at nil cost, and possibly energise some US politiciands to question once again the value of aid.

If it came from Alabama, it is not unlikely that these are Gulf War (1991)-era ATACMS that have been sitting in storage since being returned from the desert. A good friend of mine did a TDY to Huntsville over a decade ago. He related to me that there were many CONEX boxes from Desert storm that would occasionally be plundered for spare parts for tanks, IFV's, Blackhawks, SPA, etc.
Granted, the ATACMS are missiles, but since the Army's Missile Command is in Huntsville, Alabama, it seems logical to me that they'd be stored/sourced from there.

Seem pretty COTs these days - certainly not modern where the 3 gyros would be laser on a single chip.

But if the Russians want to go down a hole reverse engineering obsolete tech - let them go ahead. Never interfere with the enemy when he's making a mistake......

Interesting. There is also a lack of bow waves on the three, although from the prop wakes they appear to be moving much faster than the other two.
