It was at this point the pilot though that stalling the jet, and letting it drop gently onto the deck probably wasn't a good idea.

The LSO's command to "Call the Ball!" was misheard by the F3H's pilot as "Maul the Ball!"

My source says the aircraft using all available cover to stalk the flight deck is an F7U. However, I am not an expert in these matters.
