The IDF sure seems to know the Iranian's business which suggests they have "penetrated" the various segments of the Iranian forces and organizations....something the Mossad and other Israeli intelligence forces are very good at doing. The IDF is know properly for being patient and taking years to do that along with the modern capacities of reading other Gentlemen's Mail through. I think there is sufficient evidence of that as they go about picking off particular high value human targets one after another. What is the current term of office for the head of the Iranian Military....four days is it?
That message to the head of the Iranian government is he is alive only because it has not become essential that he not be. Were I to be calling the shots every one of the Men named to be candidates for his successor would be removed until one that is seen to be a "good" replacement was named. If he turned out not to be he too would have a short term in office.
Bottom line however is that unless and until the current Iranian Regime finally wakes up and smells the coffee before departing from government service upon receiving a RIF notice....and Nuclear Inspectors are given free access to anywhere they wish to go and confirm the full and complete end to current and future efforts to achieve nukes by the Iranians....we shall not be able to say with absolute certainty that we have accomplished the stated goal of the air campaign. That campaign is going to go on until the coffee aroma is sufficiently strong to garner the attention of the Ayatollah Club members.
Old saying in the US Military....."Make it so!". The Assets are in place now to facilitate both defensive and offensive action. How much you want to bet some attention gets turned to Iranian maritime assets.
Probably other than the nuclear and missiles that is next best chance for the Iranians to do real harm to International interests.
But as in every military action, no matter who is conducted it, there is always the chance of losing support should the wrong people are harmed.
China needs Iranian oil as its economy is very strained right now. Can OPEC and other exporters pick up that demand and thus prevent China from getting upset?
Too many here think small despite there being very important issues to consider as all of this plays out.
If you wish to focus upon Trump the Man rather Trump the President of the World's strongest Military you shall continue to be Small Boys in an Adult conversation.
If you base your thinking only on hyped media rubbish and do not do some research to confirm what you are reading to be fully accurate how do you assert with certainty any given point of view.
How do we know the success of the GPU-57 Bombing as we sit in our homes. banging away on the computer keyboard when in reality the World's Intelligence services cannot with an adequate degree of certainty do so. Remember the results of the Inspectors work post the Iraq War? How long did it take for them to conduct a finely focused examination of Iraqi facilities, interview Iraqi WMD personnel?
Why would it be any different this time?
No matter which side you on this the cold hard fact is you right now with your access just do not know what the truth of the matter is.
Intelligence officials of various Nations do have a much better level of knowledge than we outsiders do and in time let's hope they are getting it right and passing accurate information along to the policy and decision makers that matter.

All those ,and particularly the ‘nasty’ countries around the world ,who thought that Trump ( the negotiator ) was all mouth and no action should pay close attention.
He is definitely NOT a President you can risk trifling with.

It amazes me the amount of consideration some of you are giving the Iranians. Perhaps if they chanted Death to the UK for the last 46 years, your attitude towards yesterday’s events might be different. A little history lesson. The U.S./Allied development of the Atomic bomb during WWII was initiated by pleas from prominent scientists in Europe that Hitler was trying to develop an Atomic weapon. How far into its development was unknown, but the Allies couldn’t Hope, cross their fingers, pray, hug a teddy bear etc, they had to try and beat the Germans in obtaining an Atom Bomb. So we did. Of course after the war, with all the intelligence we gathered, the naysayers will state, the Germans or Japanese were never close, we shouldn’t have used it, etc etc. Hindsight is a luxury. I can only imagine what Iran would do with a nuclear device, but if they do get one and use it, the same folks ridiculing Trump would be pleading why we didn’t do anything to stop the Iranians….how anyone can defend that regime is baffling to me given their track record.

I am not sure anyone is defending the current Iranian regime as such but perhaps the way this has played out may cause issues in that if you start targeting other countries because you don’t agree with them where does it end ?
PS SASless nice to see you back

I wouldn't think any air-dropped missile would reach an installation half a mile underground, but the US bunker-busters should have wrecked the access shafts, entombing those facilities. The Barnes Wallis Tallboys weighed only six tons and rather than hit the target they were designed to create an 'earthquake' alongside it. This may have capsized the Tirpitz rather than a direct hit.
Another example is La Coupole, a colossal concrete dome above a V2 rocket arsenal and launch facility for continuous bombardment of London. There was no obvious damage but the vast structure was moved off level and became unusable. Crews said that the explosion of their even bigger 10 ton Grand Slam alongside Germany's key Bielefeld Viaduct was hardly visible, the bridge collapsed and such underground disruption was caused that the post-war viaduct had to be constructed some distance from the original location.
While there may be little effect on the Iranian surface, there may be very considerable subterranean damage caused by the arrival of not one but several of these monster US 15-tonners.

As a lifetime Target shooter, I commend the tight grouping on those 2 impact points. I agree that the underground BDA is impossible, but I can imagine that 3 successive deliveries of a MOP at fairly short intervals [my assumption] is likely to have caused some substantial disruption … especially where the centrifuges are concerned.
I’m intrigued by the selection of those 2 impact points, which suggests ‘someone’ had a good idea of what lay buried under the terrain.

Iran's parliament endorsed a measure to close the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global transit chokepoint, in response to overnight U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, Iranian state media reported Sunday.
Iran's state-owned broadcaster Press TV reported* that the legislature had reached a consensus to close the strait. The final decision rests with Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, it said……

WASHINGTON, June 22 (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday called on China to encourage Iran to not shut down the Strait of Hormuz after Washington carried out strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
Rubio's comments on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo" show came after Iran's Press TV reported that the Iranian parliament approved a measure to close the Strait of Hormuz, through which around 20% of global oil and gas flows.
"I encourage the Chinese government in Beijing to call them about that, because they heavily depend on the Straits of Hormuz for their oil," said Rubio, who also serves as national security adviser.
"If they do that, it will be another terrible mistake. It's economic suicide for them if they do it. And we retain options to deal with that, but other countries should be looking at that as well. It would hurt other countries' economies a lot worse than ours."
Rubio said a move to close the strait would be a massive escalation that would merit a response from the U.S. and others.
The Chinese embassy in Washington did not immediately provide comment.

Is the risk now the building of a very dirty suitcase bomb: a lump of plastic and a lump of enriched uranium: anywhere, any time.?

How effective was the US attack on Iran’s nuclear sites? A visual guide
Magmatic rock would be harder to penetrate - or tunnel.
Most likely the strata would be angled which could deflect the penetration.
Israeli intelligence is very good - good enough to have access to test bore results (if any) we don't know.
Maximum damage would be detonation inside or collapse into the facility. A close second would be structural compromise of the rock above with the resultant instability rendering the facility unusable. Whether the Iranians would publish photos of an undamaged facility is questionable as they may prefer to pretend it was destroyed and continue to use it without concern that Trump will give it another try.
Long regarded as the most difficult military target among Iran’s nuclear sites, the uranium enrichment facilities at Fordow – the primary target of the operation – are buried beneath the Zagros mountains. Reports have suggested that the site was constructed beneath 45-90 metres of bedrock, largely limestone and dolomite.
Some experts have suggested the layering of the sedimentary rocks, including faults, would also make it more difficult to strike the centrifuge array, providing a kind of geological cushioning against a blast wave.

LB,
That ignores existing smuggling routes that avoid established checkpoints thus your thought sounds good on paper but is unworkable as there are other crossing points and methods.
Remember the US Open Border policy of the Biden Administration and how millions of un-vetted people flooded into the country?
Look at the problems the UK is experiencing with the boat people and other folks sneaking across the borders.
How hard would it be to smuggle a "Dirty Bomb" into either Country?
What's worse....has it already happened and we just do not know about it?

Can I raise the point that those precision hits look quite precision.
I would not like to be on the other side of the door to that.
It's like they cut their own chimney for the oxygen.
Wider-view shows smoke trails 10 hours after - stil going strong.

MOPS work, Theocracies don't.
