Danny,

May be you know this and I've been trapped but "Broadsword calling Danny Boy" comes from the film Where Eagles Dare with a then young Clint Eastwood and a very nice young lady who name I've forgotten. Really should be the other way round by remembering her name and not Clint's.

Day one of dogfight training wasn't quite what Cholmondeley-Warner was expecting.

Bertie enters his first dogfight.

***

Gibsons dog decided that he'd had enough of his nickname!

***

Before he's cleared to fly, Bertie needed to sit his Lab test.

***

Umm...I hit a really big bug with my wind shield...and he's really pissed!

Bertie achieves his eureka moment & quickly jots down notes for his 'hose & drogue' invention.

The RAF, not to be outdone by the Wind Talkers, opted for a system that was just plain Barking!

The crew of the future!
The pilot is there to feed the dog, the dog is there to bite the pilot if he touches anything.
