High School Diploma is not listed on the website as a requiremtn. You only need Level 4 (ICAO) English, which I think is at about kindergarten level.

CAVnotOK 7th Apr 2010 16:15

No High School docs required.

Just because you didn't do high school maths doesn't mean you aren't smart enough to turn down the job offer when it comes!

Most of the accountants in dubai did not pass high maths and pilots make the worst accountants so i think you are in unless you cant read since there is ample info to help those that can read. Word of advice make sure you read everything and tell toy family everything. There is many cases of problems linked to pilots not telling their families the Truth about dubai

Those that were in the holding pool

Anybody out there that was in the previous holding pool (and who's application/interview lapsed) been invited back for another interview?

EK Snorkel 9th Apr 2010 14:53

Heard from a mate who was interviewed a few weeks back that there were a few Airbus-rated/experienced pilots in his group who were being told they would probably get the 777 fleet if hired - regardless of the fact that they only had A320 time.

Is the 777 fleet so under-staffed that previous type experience does not matter? Just curious.
Many ex CRJ guys flying 777, previous experience on Airbus or Boeing does not automatically mean you will fly the same in EK.

Hi Guys,
Just got back from the interview a few days ago with a joboffer.
I was really impressed by the airline and what I saw during my 4 days down there.
Could any current EK F/O please tell me the annual increment in salary you get each year?
I havnŽt accepted the offer yet though, I bring my family down there first for a week before we make up our mind.

Many thanks guys

skyvan 10th Apr 2010 19:16

Last year there was no increase.

Have a look at your contract, it does not mention an annual increment. In the past, you could pretty much count on 3%. Last year, due to the downturn, the increase was 0%, and then the hour limit from which you were paid "overtime" went from 78 hours a month to 92. Considering that most pilot rosters were then averaging 76hours a month, and now the average is 90-91 hours, there has been an effective decrease in pay due to the increase in productivity.

By the way, the contract is not really that important anyway, the company can and does change it to suit their needs and/or desires (not necessarily both together), and they don't negotiate on it, they merely advise you of the change.

A lot of what made EK attractive in the past was not in the contract, but it was there, and you could count on it. Since 2008, everything came under scrutiny, and none of it was sacred, so quite a few changes were made, and not for the better (from our side). But I won't rehash those, please take a bit of time to re-read the various postings on this forum, even earlier postings on this thread.

A word of caution, I don't know where you were shown as possible accommodation, but rumour has it that there is not a lot of it around. You don't want to get caught in temporary accommodation (2 bedroom apartment in downtown Diera or Bur Dubai) with your family. The last guys ended up there for over a year, and a number of families have imploded due to this.

Good luck in your decision making process, if it helps at all, of all the guys who joined in the last 2 years, apart from the guys who were unemployed back home, about 60-80% now feel they would have been better off staying where they were.

hi

Hello everybody.

once you are shortlisted, how long does it take until interview?

Is anyone getting shortlisted who does not have 55 tone requirement? crj drivers?

Any recent crj guys who got shorlisted and went for an interview to a job offer?

Thanks and good luck to all.

I was really impressed by the airline and what I saw during my 4 days down there.
Hahaha, can someone help me up off the floor from laughing. :D

On a daily basis I just cant get over the stupidity of human beings. After ALL THE DIRE WARNINGS about this place and airline, one still wants to walk into the fire.:ugh:

Iver 20th Apr 2010 02:05

cl65,

If you are shortlisted and they know your background, by definition, would they not be excluding the 55 ton requirement? Why shortlist you if you already don't qualify?

Good luck in your process!

Can someone shed some light on what this Aptitude test on day one in the interview is all about

Fmr145Capt 21st Apr 2010 21:39

Former RJ Capt. question

I was a captain on the 145, (4000 PIC) 6500 TT, I have been out of
flying working in an engineering firm for the last 5 years. The pay has been much better than at the regional airline, but in this economy pretty much everyone has been laid off. Question is this, if I were to go and pay for a
PC in the 145, to get current again - do you guys think EK would consider me? Do they use their own medical certification or will FAA 1st be sufficient? Thanks to all......:)

Greenkiwi 27th Apr 2010 10:08

contact please

I am one of the first self funded student pilot doing the MPL programme in Sharjah which MAY lead to a job in Air Arabia. At the end of training I should end up with circa 500 hours on the A320. I would be happy to work with Air Arabia but just want to see what all my options might be. I live in DXB. Does anyone have a phone number or e mail of someone in EK flight deck recruitment who I can contact to discuss future career prospects at EK. Hope to be flying by 2011. Just finished 850 hours of ground school. Thanks.

atpcliff 27th Apr 2010 16:14

Hi!

Was at KLAS job fair this past Fri (23Apr2010). EK said a few days before they lowered the mins now to 10 tonnes.

You need to be CURRENT within the past 12 months, and another guy at job fair said it was current flight time on a JET. So, updated sim/PC check does not help.

I pulled my application off in Feb, but now have it back on. I was hoping to get a US-based job, but that is not looking great right now, so back trying to get an interview with EK.

Accomodation

There are 20 villas available next to mine. There are a few older ones that are going to be available because o fsome departures. So for now no shortage....but for the future!!??

Sabeji 29th Apr 2010 11:09

So...is there a link or someone willing to describe the latest interview process

When I did the process 2 years ago it was 3 days, now some says it is 4 days.
Anyone knows and wants to talk about it? I mean the interview process, not the "WHY OR NOT" someone should come to work @ Emirates.
3 friends are coming to try and I'd like to tell them how it is going to go.
thx
