EK Interview Format

Just tried searching through all the clutter and can't seem to find anything regarding the above.

Does anyone have the link.

I wouldn't worry so much about the Interview format. Generally speaking, they want to see if you are a decent person with good interpersonal skills. Naturally there is some emphasis put on 'knowledge' and handling skills as well.

Just be yourself! Work with your team-mates, don't be overly ''anything''..... in other words be tolerant, don't express viewpoints that might be considered a tad extreme and above all else, interact with everyone around you.

If you are a good guy, EK will take note. If you are a nutcase, generally speaking EK will take notice of that too because they are actually pretty good at recruiting here. I rarely fly with someone who I either detest or consider to be a 'whack-job', which is a credit to their recruitment procedures.

Granted, there have been a few short periods....... oh how do I say this........ when EK were hiring some less than desirable candidates. It was a function of the number of applicants versus the 'required' number of successful candidates. We are definitely entering into one of those phases again, so even if you are a bit of an odd-ball, you still stand a good chance of success, haha.

Your biggest question SHOULD be, ''Do I really want to go to Emirates''. If you have made up your mind, then best of luck to you and hope to see you on the line sometime.

Who Knows.

I have been looking around every where also, but couldn't find anything. Although I do know a guy who just went to the interview last week. He didn't do the whole thing. Long story, but he decided not go continue the interview after day 2 even though he was invited to day 3. He said day 1 is just the sim, visual circuit, then a low vis. v1 cut, fly dir. to a vor, then outbound on a radia with just the rmi. Then there were some group problems to solve, something about a murder mistery, and a few others like that. Day 2 was a tour of Dubai and the company accomidation, followed by more psyc. testing. Some sort of timed test involving 3 pictures, then you have to pick what you think the next picture will be. Sorry I don't have anything else on day 3 or 4, I wish I had that info also.

The best thing you could do is to come here not knowing what to expect.
That way you will be ready for the unexpected. Knowing too much could be a distraction for you.

Just be yourself and try the best you can do.

It worked for me many years ago!

I just got an invite for interview. Applied about 2 months ago >8000tt, 320 type >2000 in type. I flew in Bahrain about 12 yrs ago so familiar with Middle East. After reading many posts on here not getting that warm fuzzy feeling to give up a seniority number at a US carrier and bring my family over there even with a potential 2nd furlough looming over my head.

missioncontrol 24th Jan 2010 17:56

Yes - you do have to pay for your own air-ticket to get to the interview.
Even on the Emirates network.

Hmmmm- that is a first.

donpizmeov 25th Jan 2010 04:00

Not for EK its not. All interviewees had to pay their way over up till a year or two ago when the free tickets were offered. So things have returned to the way they were. Don't expect anything for free from over here.

FlyDubai still provides ticket to candidates.

My advice to anyone applying to Emirates - other than DON'T, are you crazy, kill yourself first, etc - because in spite of the warnings, there are always people who think they know best, and then generally end up posting several months after they join whining about how it isn't anything like the recruitment DVD....

LIE. Lie early, lie often, lie on your CV, lie in the interview. Feel absolutely no compulsion to be truthful, and stretch and distort facts whenever you feel it may be necessary to achieve your aims.

That way, you'll have a headstart on the company when you join, so that when the lies and utter bull**** start to flow fast and furious, you'll have a fighting chance of keeping up.

Practice makes perfect.

EK paying flights now!

We are heading over at the end of Feb and Emirates just emailed saying they would fly us over from an EK departure city...:ok:

Pin Head 5th Feb 2010 17:37

If you have a job, I wouldn t join.

lcristler 5th Feb 2010 21:05

Seriously how bad can it be? I have 5 friends there for average 2 years and they are pretty happy..The job situation for me here isnt exactly pretty!

lcristler 5th Feb 2010 21:09

Did you get hired at Emirates then? I remember seeing your post for interview gouge a few weeks back??

atpcliff 12th Feb 2010 11:42

Hi!

Just read on another thread that EK is again paying your way to DXB from an EK destination.

I know about 8 guys or so that fly (or worked at) EK. 1 guy hated it and quit/got fired in training. The other guys all range from decent-->a good job.

I think for Americans EK looks better than it does to Europeans.

Future of EK flightcrew

Future of EK?
So EK is obviously looking for FO...I think it is a utopia to think that there will be a short of flightcrew time...think about...there are thousands finishing their ATPL from countries around the middle east where salaries are 1/100 of that paid @ EK,flying a few years and then moving on to get the chance.
I`m afraid that this is the most realistic scenario in the coming years.:(:(:(
What about the reputation??? Isn`t it very important for EK,I mean I remember a few months ago that nearly every newspaper in the world had reports about the MEL incident and some articles about EK pilot speaks out..etc....on the other hand there are advertisements that cost millions on CNN etc... Do they care to improve the situation? will it change again(for the better) of course....

Filing out Emirates Application question?

:rolleyes:I have a questions for any single guy filling out the Emirates Application.?

I have no immediate family to submit in the "family details" section of the application. The instructions tell me to select "not applicable," however this option is not available. Does anyone have that same issue, Please let me know how you guys proceed.
Thanks
