Careful, or at least be lucky, on who you get in your sim assesment. Last week a Swiss copilot assesing new hires failed all his candidates on the Airbus yet the guy assesing the Boeing pilots passed four of the five applicants. This chap was the rudest, most uncouth person, nobody had a chance.

Ek Interview
 
Hey fly neo, Im going 27th Feb-March 1st. Probably not the same dates, but I was wondering if anyone would Have an answer regarding Certification of flight Times. When you come to the interview, ask you to certify your log books....DOes anyone know if you take your books to a notary Public, would that be sufficient to qualify...or do you actually take your log books to your chief pilot?

Hi ratchetman,
when you look up in the documents they provided you, you should find under 6.0 that the logbooks have to be complete and signed by wheter your authority or fleetchief,DO..., and as I see you are from the US so you might have your ratings in the Logbook, so EACH side has to be signed by you and stamped by the authority....?!?

To give you an Idea, I have entered all my flight times in an electronic logbook, which I take (a printout of +-700 pages) within the next days to my DO AND to the authority to get it stamped and signed. Failure to this means reject from the test...

Another question, how did you prepare for the test?
I reviewed -Ace the tech..-, Handling the big j..- and I had a look to MET and jeppessen introduction(basic things, Holdings, Interceptions QDM,QDR...).
Would be interresting to see what you prepared!

Starts with a 30 questions techical quiz. They give you 30 minutes but most guys finished in 15 minutes. I believe they have 5 or 6 different test books with the same questions just inn a different order. Do not worry about this test.
The next step is the sim evaluation. 8 guys in my group got the 777 while the rest got the A310 sim. Just fly the sim like you fly your current aircraft. Don't forget to be an "actor" and imagine you have pax and flight attendants. They all neet to be briefed whenever you have a problem!!
Next day is group exercises (if you pass day one). Nothing to study for here, just be active and participate in the discussion.
Last day is psychometric testing followed by an interview with an Emirates aviation psychologist. After this you will have an interview with an HR person and a fleet captain.
I had a great time. I was very impressed by the recruitment team. Lots of great people. Overall a very positive experience:D

Hi all,

first pltskiracer, many thanks for the briefing, I heard absolutly the same, I go in in about 3 weeks so they changed nothing in their program.
Concerning the sim: did they also give you a last minute hold and an QDM/R interception, or only the visual circuit and the Raw data ILS 2eng and one ILS 1 eng with F/D and A/T? It also depends if you apply as DEC or CO as I heard. Appearently as Co you don t have to fly the LOFT ?

For b747godfather:
I wrote the application in the beginning of oct 2006, 2 weeks later I got the mail that I was shortlisted, and they contacted me via mail 2 weeks ago for the Interview at DXB . But what I found out, it first depends on how many applications they get, what their actual need is( getting new A/C or not the following months) and how many hours you have. In my eyes they prefer young captains with a lot of hours... If you want to have more detailled Info please PM me.

Well I'm very exceited about this.I am an FO applicant.
I was in the hold pool for about 6 months before I was called.

Sorry to Reply so late Neo, been on the road again with no relief in sight. Anyway to answer your question, Ive been reading those same books and I also downloaded the Emirates hand-book from online. The Emirates hand book is pretty good in that it gives you details as to what the Sim ride Is like and along with details of what the whole interview process is about. You probably have that one too so good luck.
Also what interview dates did you take, seems Emirates is pulling All the guys from my initial training class at Pinnacle. It will be interesting to see If and who will be Selected.

All you guys trying to tell us how hard it is flying six or eight sectors a day for a low cost carrier, European Wx, LVPs every sector, dodgy bosses, no respect for flight time limits, overloaded aircraft, illegal snag sheets, bla bla bla.

What the do you think we did to get our hours up to join Emirates.

We've been there, done that, and got the T-shirt, and it doesnt come close to the fatigue of flying max hours back of the clock, across the globe.

Get some time up in a heavy aircraft, flying max hours, and more, with 75% of it back of the clock on long hall ops, and you may then be qualified to comment.
