Anyone else get this? Was scheduled for an interview next week....

Ya, thats the way they roll alright.

I'm guessing they had a flood of applications from the
shutting down of SkyService. Lots of 757 and 767 drivers
in that bunch.

Most airlines works on the idea of "hire the person, train the pilot"

I guess they see it differently

Whats your current aircraft type and experience?

They call me last wee to see if I can attend the interview on june or july, I said yes, so they told me to wait for an e mail, but it's been 10 days since the call and no further news or mail.

I do hope you have about 2500h minimum on 737 or equivalent. Otherwise be prepared to get turned down and get screwed over :ouch:
The new requirement: 2500h on modern jet is a farce. What they don´t tell you is that in their eyes a modern jet is a 737, A320 or bigger!
If you do have these hours, good luck and be prepared to get screwed over somewhere down the road :ok:

Given a list of dates in June, but after reading and re reading this forum a few times, i have decided to say NO.
I dont think that my dream of flying a widebody is worth risking my family.

Thanks to all of you within EK who have contributed to this forum.

Guys....how does a formal job offer come?? I have been interviewed last week and made it all the way through. The doc gave me the nod that my medical seemed fine and my references have been contacted. Know this cause my Chief Pilot let me know. Email or a call?

Read on another thread that 10 RJ capts from Pinnacle interviewing soon/have interviewed already. The international hiring of US guys is really helping out the job situation in the US.

hi guys,

Quick question regarding the EK process.

Do you need the logbook signed/stamped before the interview, or can you do this afterwards? My logbook is all in order, however I don't really fancy asking my manager to write a little letter to confirm my entries, simply since I fear this might have an adverse affect on my career.

Secondly, the references you all have used, are they really `management` or are former base captains / guys high up in training etc enough?

Hello all,

With the recent announcement concerning an increase in aircraft in the EK fleet has there been any talk about changing the Leave of absence/furlough policy when joining Emirates?

I understand that they are currently quite short on qualified candidates to join the company, and removing the need to completely resign from your current company to join EK might just allow them to have enough pilots to fly the airplanes they have, even if it is for a three or five year period.

PD, why would any MAJOR Airline want to go through the trouble and investment of recruiting Pilots only to knowingly have them 'Bugger Off' after a short period of time??

Think about it buddy, United wouldn't accept it, so why should EK??:ugh:

Just a quick question:

During the panel interview I read that you are asked to give examples of certain things such as:

1) Tell us about a time when..........?

Can anyone expand on this a bit more. Do they ask you to give examples of when you lead a team, or did something that had a positive outcome etc...?

Is it also the standard format of talk about your career, family etc...?

Any help appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi!

MOST US airlines higher furloughed pilots. SOME of them require the pilots to resign their seniority, but many do not even do that. They figure that a certain number will stick with them, and those that return will serve for enough time at the new airline to make it worth while.

The current rate of returning off of furlough for the US pilots who have been furloughed long-term is only about 50%. Additionally, EK pilots have to be current with jet time in the past 12 months, so unemployed pilots, or, those furloughed more than about 6 months ago are not elligible for EK.

I have been told that only JAA can apply to all Middle East and India, is it true?

I had a phone interview for a position within Emirates prior to interview in DXB.
Whilst i've only ever had 1 phone interview before I have to say it was average for the world class airline i thought i was applying to and certainly the questions asked of me wouldn't have gave any indication of my experience / potential. I was asked had i done my home work on DXB. After the initial phone interview I had another from HR and the impression given was that there was no standard salary scale for the job applied for (i.e. i was asked how much i was currently on in the UK and i was advised it would be the same in DXB)
The one that put me off however was accomodation - i may get it if i was lucky and something was available, if not i had to take the allowance (of which i presumed wouldn't cover renting somewhere if i read these posts correctly - and i'm not even a "nigel")

Anyway I appreciate that getting Pilots there is difficult but with the big orders for A380 they need the back stage staff also

Has anyone here ever heard of anyone who has gone through the whole screening process all the way to the last day and was not offered a job and then two years later was able to reapply and actually got screened again?

I know you can reapply after two years but is it only for those who failed the sim ride during the first attempt or will they give it a go on someone who has failed the interview on the last day?

I tend to believe that if they have seen all they could about you and did not like you, then what is the point to call you back 2 years later?

Any thoughts?
