I for one will not be applying. EK has turned into a joke of an Airline. The bad press far outweighs any desire of me ever wanting to have this poorly run and unsafe , accident-waiting-to-happen Airline on my CV. Everyone will have their own reason for applying or not , but I wouldn`t work for Emirates for all the tea in Carrefour...or Walmart...I mean China.

AHH ! the famous recruitment ad !
Pack of lies ! seriously read between the lines ! the posts above sum up the reality of working for emirates .. as soon as you get off the flight to dubai, meet the lady from marhaba and sign the form to accept your keys .. thats it ! the end of any support you will recieve from emirates.. As for flight safety..the worst airline i have worked for, they havent got a clue !..other threads on the ME forum regarding fatigue, rostering .. explain why. Sad .. but true ! Marooned is right .. etihad the better long term bet |
how serious are they on the 4000TT....etihad on the other hand doesn't ask for such high mins.
|
I maybe going out on a limb here, but guessing Habibis that those thousands of applications on file may have dried up. The last time this happened, AAR grudgingly gave us a nice pay rise, inshallah.
No mention in the weekly propaganda of the stacks of people queueing to join the award winning airline, bla, bla, bla. SyB  |
spend a very long time in the RHS * Salary: Competitive ?!?! ..F/Os in Emirates are STRUGGLING to pay their bills - No mention in the weekly propaganda of the stacks of people queueing to join the award winning airline |
Compared to which airline? BA? AA? UA? AC? CX? QF? AF? LH? Delta, Continental? Be realistic. |
If I could turn back the clock I definitely wouldn't do it again..... once bitten....
|
Now Emirates stands to have nothing in their pile of CV`s but the best of the worst instead of the worst of the best.
|
I read on PPJN.com that candidates have to pay for their flight to DXB for the interview. Good way to increase the load factors--schedule lots of interviews! No thanks, Emirates.
|
What are the odds that some newhire FOs will go to the A380 fleet? If not the A380, which fleets are most likely to see newhires?
|
medflyer - it always used to be that you had to pay your own way over to DXB. That changed for a couple of years when EK was desperate but it's just gone back to how it was...
|
Great, now you can pay for a ticket to interview, and sit in a hold pool.
Money well spent??? |
Ek is exactly a pure reflexion of Dubai. After what we know about the finances of this place i guess it speaks for itself :O they like to compare Dubai to New York, London, Paris, etc. The 2010 Dubai budget came out yesterday and the revenues for 2010 will be 8 billion dollars. If all the tourists come  Dubai has 10 times this amount for a debt. At 8% interests they just pay the debt. When Emirates Airlines real numbers come out will you be surprised???? Better look at it from the outside for sure. My expectations are for my next pay check and that's it. You have to be a fool to think otherwise. You just can't expect more. Let's wait and see.
Keep Discovering:ok: |
Hmmm, interesting.
I flew 4 sectors on EK between December 17th and January 1st. Spoke to flight crew members, seemed fine to me. Asked them questions about working and living in Dubai, only had positive responses for the most part. Sure it's a different country, city, different rules and a different lifestyle. I'm an intelligent person, I can tell when someone is unhappy or has the desire to quit on the things they are currently dealing with, and I never saw this from individuals I spoke with at EK recently. Oh well. Life goes on. P.S. Does not mean I am right, it was just my observation. You guys are the employees, not me. |
Know your place
Perception is reality.
Fact is that the benefit of the doubth is favouring the British so be careful some of them have long toes. |
If a fellow pilot asks questions in the context of an application you have to be as objective as you can.
|
All those looking to come here have a look at the post" Guilty until proven innocent."
See how the law really works and how much protection you really have as an expat. On top of that if you are single don't bring your girlfriend along with you as you might end up in jail as well (search for couple arrested after a rape allegation by the fiancee of a couple staying in a hotel in Dubai against a member of staff):ugh: |
The incentive to live here has diminished, they need to sharpen their pencils!!
|
A little thread creep..........
As far as l know in Dubai you can get away with ANYTHING (within reasonable normal grounds....) as long as you keep your head down. Sadly most of the people who are caught on the wrong side of the law usually are piss drunk and want their rights to be respected in that state or want to show the locals (Emarati or expats !) they are not from around here and are smarter than the locals. The local cops will have a field day with you if you fall into one of these groups. This place is very tolarant as far as l have eperienced. So yes ............you can bring your girlfriend or boyfriend.........and get drunk at the same time in all the hotels, bars, restuarants........as long as you don't create a spectacle and draw attention to yourself. |
...what's the point of getting drunk, then??
