EU/UK is by far safer in what is expected to be a tough couple of years ahead!
Thanks for the advice, however I have nowhere else to go.
Where I'm at right now, things are way way worse here compared to anywhere else in the world.
And June 2023 is the latest join date for us according to what they said, it could be as early as March as there are people that are still bonded with their current company.

I was going to rewrite stuff about crap rosters, totally random allocations of flights, no repayment of money deducted 2 years ago, senior management don’t give a damn about pilots quality of life, if anything happens expect no support, manage by veiled intimidation, GCAA wont stand up to emirates so EK can do what they like (eg 21:30 hour duty cargo flight DWC-PVG-BOM!), EK making lots of money but pitiful pay rise, inflation high, costs rising , accommodated in company compound so can’t escape from EK as your neighbours work for EK too, kids possibly go to EK school by compound so spend time with EK kids too, little time at home in Dubai (777), communication is one way they talk you listen, no way of getting anything changed!

But then I thought, hey thats all minor stuff because we fly a big shiney jet!

Given that Australians are allowed to work in the US under E3 visa sponsorship (you know, with legally enforced employment contracts and conditions), perhaps EK might find it more difficult to attract the numbers they require.

Is there a normal hotel that is used for temporary accommodation upon joining or can it be anywhere?

Unless things have changed, if you take company accomodation, it will be ready for you when you arrive. If you choose to take the allowance, you are on your own.

New joiners get 2 weeks in the Marriott Marquis on SZR even if in company accomodation. Gives them time to get their place a tiny bit sorted before moving in.

McToryMug, OK, not entirely sure what you are trying to achieve with your answer but I guess it makes you feel better.

I get that you are not happy, and you must be looking to leave. I appreciate your semi ironic answers to peoples questions, however what I cannot take is your personal comments about a member of the EK recruitment team. If you need to sink that low, then its time you took your own advice and left the building. This place will never tick all the boxes for everyone but if it keeps the wolf from the door then so be it. I have a UK CAA ATPL with 7 different types on it and I cannot match the cash I make here. I know the restrictions and the pitfalls but I dont have to resort to name calling and personal slanderous comments.
Feel free to throw a few personal insults, it really doesnt make a lot of difference to me. I am here to fill a pot, plain and simple.

Then why waste time here?
Go there and see yourself.
Enjoy 👍🏻

Are there still no poaching agreements in place between EK, EY and QR? Or are guys now allowed to leave the one for the other?
