I had my HireVue with EK month ago, do you guys have any clue how long they would give the result and go on to the next step?

I have done the assessment 6 months ago and the new registration says shortlisted - is it a good sign?
question: did you have direct or digital interview? If digital how long they give you the response deal with the result?

Hey! It seems like EK is inviting only Airbus or Boeing TR pilots for the moment. Has any of the CRJ or EMB pilots got invited for the interview lately?

I know somebody with thousand on hours on Boeing (737, 747 and 777) that joined EK on the A380 fleet, I guess it comes down to the company's needs at the time of joining.

You only ever do what the company needs! No choice!
The sad fact is many dream of joining EK, thinking it’s nirvana. But when things go a little wrong you suddenly understand you’re by yourself, no one to help you, far from home. Then you complain and people will say “surely you understood this before you joined?” But the rose tinted glasses everyone wears when reading all the myriad of posts somehow only let you see the good stuff!
Don’t forget that bad stuff happens too!

Happy Christmas and best of luck to you all out there…..

Just a question: if a candidate fails his assessment for a pilot or SFI position, can he apply again in the future or EK puts him on a blacklist?
Tkanks!

I remember meeting an ex-EK 777 skipper who resigned after 7 years because he said it was just so miserable and fatiguing. He said it was over 90 hours a month and mostly going to work in the dark it just took it's toll on him over the years and he resigned without a job to go to moved back to Canada. It's incredible really to have such an experienced professional take such drastic action to restore his and his families happiness. Says a lot about where we have gone as a profession really so sad to hear this type of thing.

For anyone thinking of joining, please please give thought to the revised sickness policy. If you are off for anything more than two weeks at a time, any additional days are deducted from a bank of long term sick days which amounts to a year in total. I know one colleague who was diagnosed with cancer and recovered and he got his medical back within the allowable year of long term sick leave. But, he only needs to break a bone in his body and he will be out of a job, since he does not have enough long term sick days remaining to allow the broken bone to heal.

Previously the amount of allowable long term sick leave would effectively reset, following your return to the flight deck but this is no longer the case.

Many people joining will be blissfully unaware of this and whilst none of us plan to get sick in our lives, the saying 's**t happens' is rather apt!

dear all,

take a lot of the stuff said above with a pinch of salt.

I think we by now can say that as pilots we complain an awful lot. Which is alright, we are all entitled to have an opinion. However what has been said above should not put you off from applying to the job. Most are happy at EK, but those types don’t come here and share their thoughts, it’s only the negative, miserable ones that you see here and it’s not fair to make a judgement.

What has been said above is not representative. There are some unfortunate cases which have been mentioned above, some of them I know which are true, but don’t let it detract you from pursuing a career with the company. EK has thousands of pilots and here we have a few miserable folks, don’t let it bother you.

Keep in mind, every airline/country has its pros and cons. EK and DXB is not perfect, know what you’re signing up to. Do your own research and speak to a mix of people there.

A few miserable guys! Brilliant. If you had a choice between an airline with a recognized union and employment laws and a contract with some meaning would you really move to the Middle East where you are the property of the state . No.

of course people are scared to speak out here , it’s you against the matrix and you will always lose that.

it’s a sheikhdom a dictatorship and you are here in ek to work , and work hard ! Make no mistake it ain’t no holiday. if your sick you will be slung out like a bag of ****e !
