Emirates Application 2022
Nothing changes
The more things change, the more they stay the same. I've been out of the pit for more than 3 years now and the friends I know who are still in are all looking to leave.
The simple reality is this, if you do join, use it as a money making exercise, live cheaply and have an exit plan.
Don't think for one minute that you are anything else than a taxi driver that's paid a bit more and given a different uniform.
Dubai is now a vile shiny cesspit, just like it has always been in modern times.

lots of people stay longer than they actually want because
the network you fly is great, the money is good but the management sucks. And last but not least the addiction to the lifestyle.
you can afford a car which you would not have at home, you will useless toys.
getting out there is less easy than getting in, because you won’t easily find a job which pays you anywhere near that lifestyle and/or retirement plan. But that comes with a huge price tag - your health, mental strength, your family and your connection to home.
all changes to the none existent contract where is disfavor to the pilots. Pre covid, due to lack in man power Pilots flew 100-120 block hours a month all over the world, day and night, 24/7.
nearly nobody received his full number of vacation days. Everybody is constant monitoring for sick days and lots of other stuff.

Almost everybody trying to join Emirates are people who weren't lucky enough to land a job at the legacy carrier of their country (probably due to age or bad timing) and a job at Emirates would almost always be a huge step up. People know what they're doing. Leave them alone.

Those don't look like bad things. These are the things people are entitled to choose. Stop with the unsolicited advice. For some people the conditions at EK are a step up from their previous conditions. They may have a plan that requires things that working for EK may provide. Any and most of us working for large airlines are tired. We all want to go to the beach instead of to work but you can't have everything. Some people prefer to work their ass off while having an adventure in the Middle East flying interesting routes and getting rich at it than working their ass off back home struggling to buy a house or to plan a decent retirement.

If you make it in
you survive the next day of work
you survive the next best of the best Trainer
If you have all the luck in the world it sounds like a plan
EK is too many if‘s to build a solid plan on

Of course Dubai will be dragged into the global recession and “expats” (immigrants ) will have their lives decimated as many did in the pandemic. It doesn’t matter how much dirty Russian oligarch money comes in , they will be affected , particularly international travel . We are already getting the warnings to manage expectations.
this is a place that treats people like slaves , look at the backlash in Qatar for their corrupt World Cup…. The Middle East will always be a laughing stock to the west.
I see more Indians Australians and South Africans joining than ever before probably as the next round of lay offs begin next year .
Why do people take this place seriously ??????

Hi everyone,
Does anyone know how long does one have to wait to reapply in EK after an unsuccessful interview?
I have done the assessment 6 months ago and the new registration says shortlisted - is it a good sign?

Shortlisted means nothing really. It's not a yes and it's not a no. It can stay like that for a long time. I believe shortlisted only applies for the listing they had some time ago called "Registration for Future Opportunities - First Officer A380 & B777". You should make sure you've applied to the current offer called "First Officer Opportunities - A380 & B777" if that one's still available.

If being forced to have a Covid vaccine puts you off applying do yourself a favour and stay well away. That is the least of the things Emirates will do to mess with your life.
