Poaching
Its gonna be very difficult to find people who worked at both. I left EK recently, but still have friends at QR and EK.
Salary at QR is better I believe
Lifestyle is better at EK, Dubai has more to offer. My friends rosters in QR were also way more brutal even though EK isn't easy either.
My friends at QR all wished to be in EK, none of the EK guys I know wants to work at QR so that sums it up.

Hello everyone. This forum has been really so helpful . Could anyone enlighten on when do we know what fleet we might be put on. As the position says Airbus type rated FO , its kind of not very clear which fleet they want to hire for.

Is there anybody who can generously give me a glimpse about how the A320 schedule looks like in Qatar?
1. If I actively bid for Europe do I get many layovers in Europe? possibly 4~or more times a month?
2. How long are the stays in the layover station? Is it up to 24hours stay or possibly longer than that in many cases?
3. How many quick turns and layovers can I expect in normal month?
4. In this post some guy said A320 guys fly about 65 hours a month . Is it still true?

I’ve been away from Qatar for 3 years so not really current but there was a poaching agreement for a long time- it went away during the blockade- not sure if it came back?

Maybe. Few of my friends who were Boeing rated didn’t receive any reply even after 3 weeks of the interview in Doha and status still unchanged. Whereas Airbus FOs are getting emails within 7-10 days..

The main need now is for Airbus rated guys since Qatar Airways reached an agreement with Airbus on the A350 issue and the 30+ airframes grounded will be back in the air (plus another 19 to be delivered) over the next months, so they have an immediate need for Airbus rated pilots.
Boeing guys will have to wait a bit until they sort out all the manpower requirements for the next fiscal year (which starts on April)

I applied in January and got the invitation for the online test within 5 days and the invitation for the assessment in Doha a week after completing the online test. 2,5 weeks from application to invitation to Doha.
