I dont think so. Unless they somehow miraculously settle with Airbus and decide to become a customer of them, not to mention the reviving of all the cancelled 350s. 320s contracts, why need more Airbus crew?
Whatevers the case they might be in need of Boeing crews I assume.

Did I say anything about Airbus or Boeing FO?

OK so just got back from the assessment and it seemed to go pretty well... I have a few further questions if people wouldn't mind filling in the blanks. I haven't received an offer yet but I didn't mess up the sim so I'm working on the basis that I will get one. How does the seniority system work? I understand I would be looking at 6 years + for command but how exactly does that work in terms of if I meet the upgrade requirements in 2 years do I have to wait for everyone above me on the seniority list to get upgraded before my turn or would I skip those above me who don't meet the requirements? what are the upgrade requirements? Is it the same for DEC, 6000 hours MPA? Is the company accommodation any different between Captain and FO? Would an FO be able to get a 4 bedroom place? Do you get a cargo allowance for the move over?

they gave us figures of approx 8000 dollars per month if you took the company accommodation, is this accurate? cheers in advance, think I have a big decision to make next week

Assuming you meant US Dollars:

Basic + transport aprox $6.5K,
with Flt pay aprox $8.5K (70 hours).
On Boeing fleets expect to fly a lot more.

The above is based on living in company provided accomodation, as an FO it’s highly unlikely you get a 4 bed, these are usually reserved for skippers with families.

In QR you have to wait for your seniority even though you might have the minimums already. Expect at least 7-8 years (could be as long as 10-11) for the upgrade on the Boeing fleet.

As a FO you would most likely get a 2 bedroom apartment in one of the company compounds. Captains usually get villas with 3 or 4 bedrooms. You may request the housing allowance once you move to Doha but it can take some time to actually have it approved (range can be a few months to 1-2 years).

There is a cargo allowance for your move to Doha. Just don't remember the figures, but it is usually enough to cover your initial needs.

Salary for a FO is around 30 to 38k QAR (considering a range of 60-100h) initially. Every year there is a step increment on the basic salary. If you have the housing allowance add 13k QAR to the figures above.

Just to add to Lepo ’s comment above, don’t count on the step increments every year. I was there for about 5 years and never got one (and yes I did argue it).

Partly bad luck due to training / covid but also partly due to the company apparently not wanting to give it.

Otherwise everything else mentioned above is accurate. On SH, expect the average to be at the lower end of Lepo ’s scale. LH expect to be at the higher end.

Cheers for the responses above that makes the decision fairly straight forward. The smaller accommodation for FO and salary aren't enough to justify the move. If I was still an FO I would seriously consider it but makes more sense to wait a few more years for DEC opportunities.

Hi fellow pilots,

Thanks for the replies. Are all the bills paid by the company should you stay in the company accomodation?
If you choose to go out, how much can you expect to pay for water, energy etc bills ?

If you live in company accommodation bills are paid by the company and deducted from your salary. Expect around 50-150 QAR for utilities during winter and maybe double that during summer. Internet/Cable TV is also not provided in company accommodation, so you have to pay it apart.

If you live out of company accommodation your monthly expenses will be:
- Utilities: 100-300 QAR (depends on the size of apartment/number of people living with you/season of the year)
- Internet/Cable TV: 250-350 QAR
- Qatar Cool (only if you live in West Bay/The Pearl): depends on the size of the apartment, but it's usually 300-700 QAR.

Sometimes your rent contract includes all the bills, so you just pay the rent and don't have to worry about anything else.

Could anyone on here answer a question regarding type rated FO Boeing recruitment, the advertisement requires candidates to have a minimum 500 hours B737/max time, (amongst other types) does anyone know if time on classic 737 (over 1500hrs) would be considered instead by recruitment, Thanks in advance

Thanks for the detailed answer. That is very kind!
Take care and safe flights.

It’s quite explicit. Stating 737NG/Max. Classic time is not considered. At one time many years ago it was, no longer.

Its gonna be very difficult to find people who worked at both. I left EK recently, but still have friends at QR and EK.
Salary at QR is better I believe
Lifestyle is better at EK, Dubai has more to offer. My friends rosters in QR were also way more brutal even though EK isn't easy either.
My friends at QR all wished to be in EK, none of the EK guys I know wants to work at QR so that sums it up.

Visa for Parents age 60+

Would like to know how easy/difficult it is to obtain visa for parents above 60 yrs of age. As Qatar don’t include parents as your Immediate family, which is really weird. But what are the chances of securing their long term stay if I sponsor them myself.
TIA
