Does anyone know if “on hold” means we have chance to be called or forget and try next 6 months?

Housing Allowance

If you placed in permanent company accom, how long is the waiting list for housing allowance?

Pre world cup it took years, then suddenly everyone was allowed out as prices skyrocketed. Now things will settle down, prices will drop and you will be stuck in company for a few years. The quality of which varies greatly from Poor to decent.

PS don’t consider coming if you have step children. As they won’t be entitled to many things.

Qatar airways pilots accommodation for the first year

I had applied to become a Qatar airways pilot, but may I know about the housing, is it compulsory to stay at the company housing. I am worried about my fiancé as she is coming with me, do we need to stay at the company housing without any companion? Thanks for answering

I hate to point this out, but I’m pretty sure if you are not married you can’t live together. I could be wrong, however.

SOPS is correct, you won't be able to live with your fiancé in Doha until you get married because you can only be her sponsor if she is your wife, so there's no way she get can a residency permit without being married to you (unless she finds a job of her own and the employer sponsors her).

Regarding company accomodation, yes, they will send to company accomodation initially. As people have said above, they vary from bad to decent/good. You can change accomodation once you are in Doha (it might take a few months) or ask for the housing allowance (which also might take months/years depending on company needs).

I hear that after the world cup it's going to be company accommodation for the foreseeable future but I guess being the Middle East that could change at a moments notice.

Hi everyone,

I am supposed to join QR in the middle of January. Can you tell me how does it look like with accommodation? I would prefer to get allowance rather than company acc. I heard about some guys who got allowance after 1 month from joining. Is it real?

Also do pilots receive per diem pay when on layover? If so, in what amount? I heard that breakfasts in hotels are not included… is it true?

I heard that cabin crew is not so friendly and approachable towards pilots, they write reports etc, is it true?

yes per diem is provided, it’s dependent on destination. You’ll get a per diem for breakfast but some hotels provide free breakfast but don’t count on this. If they do provide free breakfast it will be a bonus (you’ll get both per diem and a free breakfast).

I’ve been in QR for a few years, never been reported, colleagues likewise but there are always isolated cases. It depends on you, just try and get along, you do your job, they do their’s and it should be fine.

lots of good info about accom above.

It can be one month (sometimes even less) but it depends on when you join. It changes all the time. I believe at the moment, post-world cup it’s slow. It can also be influenced on whether you’re a Capt or FO.

I have heard it's only company at the moment sadly. Seems so random but with the world cup over there's got to be more availability for the company to strike deals on. It would be great if you were just given the choice of live in or out.

Hi guys I am headed for an assessment 2nd week of Jan. Those of you who have filled out the Qatar Airways Flight Deck Reqruitment form, help here please? 1. Regarding the column copilot / picus, should I mention it seperately like xxx / xxx, because where I'm from Picus is added to the P1 column.

2. Whats Training Experience? Simulator time?

any guidance would be appreciated

1. Yes But don't worry at all as the recruitment team is very helping, they will guide you themselves what has to be written and how.
2. Simulator time is whatever you have on Simulators only. e.g FNPTII etc.

Goodluck.

It would be nice if Qatar recruitment team will open to Asian Pilots like Indonesians and Philippines.
