Guys, don't be surprised. This is how they work on every level in the company, so you know what to expect.

And this before you start. Being forcibly moved from B to A fleet. No negotiation.

I live further South but the traits are identical in back-office functions. I don't mean that to be disparaging.
Everything takes multiple iterations.
Information is regarded as power.
Sudden changes are announced by ambiguous and obfuscated e-mails

Why? Personally I put it down to education that is not based on challenging authority. Processes are devised that generate work and preserve jobs instead of removing manual labour and increasing efficiency.
If you're too efficient you might lose your job. I believe that's called "Poverty Culture" and it's prevalent in the back-office.
An IT Manager told me one of his staff had instructed a co-worker "Your job is to keep your Manager happy"
Says it all really.

Good luck to all new joiners

Had any new from them? Is it normal you ask. It is hard to explain how inefficient and clunky the entire operation of this airline. You are just seeing the tip of it. Wait until you actually join (should that happen) to it up live and close.

To answer some questions

Can you commute? You have ONE four days off block every month. You need to be in Doha 12h before next duty starts + do antigen after you arrive. Its not commutable.

For people waiting replies from HR, thinking they are inefficient, wait till you join... The max time from interview to reply stands at 1 year and to join at 4 years. Note that you'll need to do the interview again after a year as it expires.

For people who have joining dates postponed, can be up to a year postponed at which you need to do interview and so again.

Last minute change of fleets from Airbus to Boeing... The airline tries to bond as many as possible pilots since most otherwise ran away before 3 years. They are doing the same with rejoiners.

If you're smart, don't give up your job to work at QR risking to be soon unemployed. If you don't have a job sure why not... Worst years of your life are ahead of you but you get some reasonable money to compensate your loss of health and to never see your family.

For first-officers, command stands at 12 years or more, you'll never last that long flying 1200 block hours per year so if that is something you look for than definitely wrong airline.

Whatever negative you read about Qr is just the tip...

Best of luck you'll need it!

Loooong Waiting and still waiting

Guys are there more Capt. on Boeing experience waiting to start the process.
Applied in Dec 2021 and its almost 9 months and no information.
I was under the impression post pandemic, they were really short on rated guys and would be hot cakes.
Any idea or news how things are shaping up and are they still looking at massive hiring in coming months or its a lost ship.

Invitation to PSA

Anybody managed to move the dates of their PSA invite to a month or two later? 4 weeks notice isn't enough time to book time off

Hi guys,

I have sent the application ( Airbus) at the beginning of May got the reply with an Applicant ID but still no news for the next step of the PSA tests etc

I now 1-2 guys that made the application on April and they finished everything and joined the company in August.

I guess there are people that even made the application earlier than me but I am curious about the timing of the the process.

For sure the Airbus issue cancellations etc plays an important role on the matter.

Is that make or break ?

Much bigger problems than that I hear, can’t find any pilot job in the ME worth leaving a proper job for .

EK is almost certainly the best, and still so many leaving here .
