Thatís funny actually. One of the fantastic DCP has been writing just such rubbish on LinkedIn. After making 1200+ pilots redundant. Creators of a fantastic working environment.

We have became the joke of the world now surely . Surely the fact I have to have aVPN to write on PPRuNe
is enough . Who would ever want to ruin their lives by joining Emirates . Stay home stay safe

mad757,

Dunno why you felt the need to delete your post. I saw it, don't really agree with it but it was well thought out and well articulated, so worthy of a read. Unfortunately this place is filled rage and vitriol.....not much intelligent discourse going on.

People that are angry at the company need to get a grip on reality. EK is a job with a 3 month lifespan.....a paycheck for fulfilling a function. Nothing more nothing less. I have always said happiness is where reality meets expectation....reality is what it is(can't change it), so any unhappiness is caused by people who do not have properly grounded expectations. Emirates is a company and you are a resource, a disposable one at that.....the sooner you realise this the sooner you will achieve a measure of happiness. The story of the scorpion and the frog crossing the river comes to mind.

I also have no idea why we are comparing it with ryanair and easyjet. If you want to work for LCC, go work for them and stop winging about how bad it is here. They are just another company and, yes, they offer a different lifestyle. Some might prefer it, and some might not. I hear O'Leary is a peach to work for......but I'm South African so what do I know.

I heard some fos on about their upgrade on the 380 yesterday. 😂 people live in their own little world here ,
nervous, Why should they not talk about upgrade. People's dreams and aspirations do not die just because times are tough. Presumably you did the right thing and stepped in to kill off those dreams....

Kenny, I deleted it because I realised it just isn't worth trying to contribute, I'm not there any more so really I have no skin in the game.

The rest of your post I agree with entirely, the scorpion and the frog is an excellent analogy.

Ken

You donít understand why we are comparing ek to a LCC? Are we in some way superior ? The last 12-15 months have demonstrated quite the contrary. Former colleagues have seen how Emirates and other Asian carriers have dealt with the pandemic and it has reaffirmed that leaving your home country to be employed in this place is a bad idea... unless you want a career change

From my experience, pilots in these lccs were considerably better at their job. We have guys been here 20 years and canít fly a visual circuit hahaha

Guys are on here writing 8 paragraphs talking us through a detailed breakdown of the affects on the global economy, Middle East region and international aviation. One poster did get as far as ďeven the plague passedĒ truth is, none of us know how the next decade will go but if we are honest with ourselves we may have wished to spend it at our previous job back home . Trainers still telling us ďI know you havenít flown for 12 months but you need to perform Made to feel like am lucky to have a job , like a hostage, gave up a proper job with good job security, proper contract to come live in meydan south. Worst mistake of my life

Sorry nervous, I can see you are angry and are lashing out emotionally. It does not make for sensible forums posts. Nobody has said we are superior to anybody. EK is a company and when they don't need you anymore they will get rid of you as cheaply and as easily as possible. You are quite correct that this is a more profound impact when you are a disposable resource working in another country. Hopefully people will consider that going forward. But it doesn't help to rant against the company for doing what it does. Go read the story about the scorpion and the frog.

Yup, i'll probably have to put my hand up and say I fly a pretty dodgy visual circuit. Not sure what your point is and how it is relevant to what is going on here.

I'm just going to repeat myself, man you have lots of issues. I, for one, am interested in how other people see the future playing out...if you don't want to read 8 paragraphs, then just move on.

Emirates may have been a mistake for some, but it wasn't for many, myself included. They have served me well and they will continue to serve me until I choose to leave, or I am booted. Some people seem to have a problem accepting this. Despite your feeling that you have made a mistake, you obviously consider sticking around as your best option. You will be better off understanding the scorpion than trying to have a go at it, as you drown.

Sorry Ken , weíll always disagree on this as I am comparing Dubai to the United Kingdom and you are comparing it to Africa.

As an Englishman I can honestly tell you there's no way I would ever want to go back and live and work in 'Woke Island'... Dubai has different pros and cons for everyone! We all want different things out of life. For me, and apparently Kenny, Dubai and EK work just fine. It probably helps to come here with your eyes wired open but not everyone does their homework!

Don’t think you are high enough on the PPRuNe seniority list to be writing such comments. Seems you are really upsetting some of the senior ppruners.

Problem is you are never really home in Dubai, as proven by the last 13 months. Doesn’t matter what you think you know about the sandpit. You can loose your job for any reason at any time and have to return to your “home” country. I for one don’t believe that is a sensible life strategy.

As there is a global pandemic Emirates is the only option right now, the problem being that it is hard to sit back and watch your colleagues lives destroyed. You seem perfectly happy to turn a blind eye to that horrible fact. But I would expect nothing more from an Emirates pilot.

What makes you say they are turning a blind on their EK colleagues? Actually the opposite from my perspective.

It is easy to make a comment still having a job not being in the need to feed a family
and I am aLao sure it worked well for many of the booted ones until....... and let’s say this way the real truth about the middle Eastern culture, manners, politeness, world openness where all the employees are the most valuable asset, came up and had been demonstrated with the greatest respect to the expat community - where the big boss and the second big boss never had the guts to stand up in front of their people and speak -
where HH and the sir where just hiding and having interviews because it is not necessary to have contact to those ungainfull employed ones - and a email is more than enough

and please no homework could reveal what the last 13 month demonstrated

Well Fatbus, I'd have to disagree with you there. The mass sacking of about 2000 Pilots, using protocols like the loser DT from WIZZAIR immorally used, was clearly wrong, and will remain a scar on many a long term loyal ex EK employee.

Agree with you on that . Iím saying some employed colleagues are helping out those unfortunate ones . I have .

What EK management did is a pure sign of CYA , pass the buck , how can I make myself look good !
