HAHA
Someone just showed me a VERY old (1980's) copy of Flight International. Inside contained a single page advert for BA's Cadet Pilot Scheme - FULLY SPONSORED, you need not pay a penny upfront. It had a very enticing STARTING salary of "£22,000 p.a."
Using inflation indicies, this equates to £42,688 in 2010. We must remember this was also the REDUCED salary which you were on for your first 7 years (not forgetting you still moved up a pay point each year). Food for thought.

I am not bothered about staying in the UK, the easyjet Perm contracts in Europe which are available at the moment are paying around £44K, £1200 a months is only if you are stuck on flexicrew. I can't see how the BA FPP at 30-34K (inc allowances) plus 1K a year pay rise will add up to a competitive salary in any reasonable time unless we can indeed get the 12K after we have paid the loan.
The early wording on the FPP website seemed to indicate that we would not see the £1000 a month instead it being paid directly to BBVA. Can anyone officially confirm that if the bond is paid back early that the money is then sent to our own personal bank accounts instead?
Judging by the responses i hope it is true. I know a lot of people use the word bond but it is really just the loan minus the interest. BA are loking to Underwrite the borrowing. Perhaps borrowing is a better word because it doesn't get caught up in bond/loan differences.
If it was a true bond then we wouldn't have to find any money or take out any loans upfront but if we left before the bond period ended we would then have to pay for it and get a loan at that point to pay it back (no one would be underwriting that loan so your house would probably be on the line at that point).
Quote: "BA will, where required, provide the necessary guarantee to enable successful applicants to secure the necessary funding."
It is all very confusing.

I am a current BA pilot, so I can help you understand a little of the salary in BA. Every mainline BA pilot will join the BA payscale. This currently has 24 increments (one for First Officers and the other for Captains). In the past, SSP pilots or cadet pilots would join on the reduced salary, but every year will get an increment to their basic salary (as all BA pilots do). These increments are in addition to negotiated pay-rises, such as the one given to all pilots earlier this year.
The increments for cadets will increase to meet the equivalent Direct Entry pilot payscale by a certain time (5 years on the old SSP scheme). By your 6th year you were on the same paypoint as any pilot who had been in the company 6 years (58.663GBP on Short Haul or 62,266 on LH), regardless of being a cadet or direct entry. Hence in 6 years time you will be getting a lot more cash than a SFO at EZY. Don't forget, most low cost airlines do not have increments. The salary you join on is the same until you get promoted. The allowances are not all subject to tax either, so the 'real' salary is greater.
If you can get through BA selection, you would be mad to turn down the offer. In the meantime, you need to concentrate on getting yourself through selection.
Remember never to become a pilot to become rich. Those times are long-gone. If money is your motivator, you need to look at a different career.

Frnchplayr 15, don't waste your money. If you can't make even the smallest attempt to write grammatical English, using punctuation and BIG letters where convention dictates, you will be "found out". Lazy mind = lazy pilot = dead pilot.

'Txt' speak will not pass muster on the forum and is unceremoniously deleted.

Ok I apologize then for what I said I guess forums in the EU are different then over here in the US. Anyway my last question I would like to ask is if you get accepted in the program, are you able to work on the side for example working at the FTE as a an airplane mechanic or I assume you would call it an aerospace engineer?

Assuming the cadet completes the training course, is it still possible for BA not to offer employment at the end of training and leave the cadet with the training debt or would BA pay some or all of the loan amount off in that situation?

Hello all.
I'm attending OAA Day 2 on the 28th.
Has anyone, either, been successful or experienced a similar type assessment within the airline industry? Your thoughts and words of wisdom on the assessment matrix would be gratefully received.
Thank you in advance.

Can anyone please tell me if their invitation from CTC appears in the "your emails" section when you login to the ba recruitment site? (the one on which we submitted our applications).
Having a bit of a problem with junk mail recently, want to make sure I don't miss anything.
Thanks
(if you had an invite from OAA or FTE I'd also appreciate knowing if the email turned up in the records on the ba site too)

"CTC also told us that BA were contractually obliged to take any extra pilots they might need outside of the scheme from ONLY CTC say for example if they underestimate their requirements. is this true?"
Surely this cannot be correct?
