Someone just showed me a VERY old (1980's) copy of Flight International. Inside contained a single page advert for BA's Cadet Pilot Scheme - FULLY SPONSORED, you need not pay a penny upfront. It had a very enticing STARTING salary of "£22,000 p.a."
Using inflation indicies, this equates to £42,688 in 2010. We must remember this was also the REDUCED salary which you were on for your first 7 years (not forgetting you still moved up a pay point each year). Food for thought.
