Out of curiosity, if:

we appreciate you may want to discuss your application with friends and family please do not share the details of your application and any subsequent assessments with others
It's going to be pretty difficult to get time off work or a lift to the airport.
"So.. i'm going away for a secret meeting.. to an undisclosed location... for a length of time I'm not entirely sure I can share with you... so, bye!"

Seems to me there is some space for interpretation with the phrase "details of your application". Saying where you have applied to and when is a fairly loose "detail". Admittedly there are people in this thread asking for the entirety of the process details, but as of yet i have seen very little that could be interpreted as giving others an unfair advantage, or jeopardising your own application.

Also I love how many closest psychologists we have floating here! If you are the type of person to discuss A, you must therefore be the type of person who would fail at B! Also, once you have made your point, and someone chooses to disagree with you, you do not have to continue to repeat yourself until they come around.

Finally I am a little unsure (careful now, I don't want people mentioning how being unsure demonstrates a lack of ability in the cockpit) of why this thread exists if discussion of the process is completely banned? I have been checking up here to get an idea of which applications have begun and any other bits of useful information: such as the fact that application interview emails have started to go out, that some people have been given a very short timescale to get time off, and that their email responses were required within 12 hours or so, all of which is very important. Does this constitute details of the application process too?

Talkpedlar, always with the same talk...you and the other old school guys (with all my respect) are making a storm in a glass of water by overexaggerating!!!Nothing has been said about the assessment besides people just wanting to know or assess if they are to loose or not their aspiration of being invited to the FTO's assessment! No one here is asking for anything else!Furthermore, everyone here is respecting what BA has asked for, so lets stop with this paranoia once and for all!!

Don't worry Nelson...

... since you have (apparently) not yet been offered a Stage 1 (FTO) assessment, it's not likely that you'll be offfered one now. Ergo your fears about who you might be sitting next to you in the future are most likely misplaced and unwarranted. It is unspeakably sad that so many of you wannabees reject impartial and balanced advice in such a pompous and arrogant manner. BA in particular and the airline industry in particular will cope very nicely without you and your sort.

In fact the airline industry is very competitive, however, as any other industry or like any other thing in live, it's just not perfect, and you seem to be good example of it.

Sim test.

Thought I'd get in a bit of practise before the simulator test so have built an ad hoc flight deck out of a couple of old coat hangers and some odds and ends (awfully glad I kept those old toothpaste tube caps now).

Does anybody know where I can get hold of a copy of the latest Airbus flight manual as my local library only has the old one on its shelves

another yes-man sheep who can't think or speak for himself
To be honest thats what most of them want these days. Do as your told and jump when told to and put the job before your family, your life. Make personal sacrifices to improve someone's elses bonus even though the whole situation will have been created by someone elses incompetence. And if you don't you will be accused of having an attitude problem.

I cannot believe that certain individuals have spent weeks arguing about whether it is right or wrong to post information about your application.

Bottom line is that BA have requested that we do not talk about our applications. Enough said surely???!

If people cant see that it is unfair and stupid to divulge information about selection to those who are waiting to go through the process then fine. I cannot understand why you would want to give someone an advantage over yourself anyway! Nasty, but it is a dog eat dog process and everybody should have a fair chance. I will be working my nuts off to prepare just in case I get through to selection. I however will be using my common sense to prepare for the obvious things like Maths etc...

Oh, and for those who say "I can't be caught," then I am afraid you are very naive in your approach... I work in an airport and we have started to rely on social media more and more... All I will say is, it is amazing what you can find out about a person in a few clicks....!

Last moan of the day, I cannot understand people who argue with others who have experience of the industry they so desperatley want to get into. Those argumentative people stand no chance of getting through if they cannot take constructive feedback at this early stage. If an experienced person told me not to discuss my application then I would not do it. Simple as. Remember, they have been through the process so know what goes on...

Good luck to everybody!

Long time lurker on here. I registered just to try and put an end to some of the frankly ridiculous statements made by people who come across as rather pompous and arrogant.

Do BA care if we post details of the methods used to assess us? Yes.

Do they care if we tell people we have applied? No.

Do they care if we tell people we have been successful? No.

Do they care if we tell people dates of assessments? No.

Do they care if we dicusss our application with close family and friends? No.

How do I know? I phoned them last week and asked.

Danny212 - from postings on the Oxford forums it appears as though yes emails have started going out. They also indicated that they will email all candidates with the outcome of their applications.

Oxford Aviation

It's good to see that one of the FTO's has one element helping the applicants by clearing their doubts on the ongoing process and status of the application screening on their forum! A good example for the other two FTO start to follow!

They will be the same as for any other company

There will be a hand eye foot coordination test

A multi tasking test

A prioritisation test.

A instrument reading test.

Some sort of pysco test

Mcharg or the like for logic and comprehension

Some form of numeracy test.

There will be some team work assement and also group discussions.

Then a personal interview.

To be honest even if you know whats in it, its not going to do you any favours because you don't know what they are looking for in the pysco test

And the comprehension and numeracy you either have it or you don't.

And the team work and interview is again either in you or its not.

Thanks Jock!

But what's that little twist in the tale that Unusual Guy hinted at several posts back?

Ford Cortina

Talking of Airbuses, had a browse through the pages of that Airbus flying manual I found languishing on the shelves of my local library. I say pages; there were actually only two. First page was entitled: 'How to fly an Airbus'. Rather a brief read (verbatim):

"Shortly prior to departing terminal building depress button marked 'Autopilot On'. Shortly after arriving at destination terminal building, depress button marked 'Autopilot Off'."

I turned over to page two which was headed: 'FAQs' which I found rather bizarre as there was only one which read: 'What do I do if Autopilot fails to configure?'
Funnily enough, this had been left blank which suggests that this is unlikely to happen. Which I found rather reassuring.

Really looking forward to flight school.

as for the little suprise.

Could be anything.

Off the top of my head.

Give a 10 min presentation infront of your peers.

Some mangement bollocks with problem solving.

Some sort of ethics situation.

There is all manner of crap that is the latest HR fad for filtering folk.

Drugs test.

But again it won't be anything you can practise for that will make any effect on your outcome.
