Appologies! Totally misread OAA rejections as CTC. FTE have done 2 weeks of assessments, CTC have given out dates from 28th Sept. Not seen any dates for OAA I could be totally wrong, forgive me if I am. Maybe there will be more dates coming up for FTE and CTC and this is just the first wave of assessments/interviews.

Given the automated response read: "Please bear in mind that due to the considerable level of response for the programme it may be several weeks before we are able to correspond with you further", I think it's a little premature to declare the application decision process all but done.

Accepted to stage 2 - OAA
Hello All,
Please note that I have been accepted for stage 2 of the OAA selection process. Accepted the date of 05/10/11 for the assessment.
I will be planning on financing the training with a BA secured loan hopefully.
Just a few questions:
- is there any financial support (ie loans) for living costs (food, accom etc)?
- does anyone know if OAA can support accommodation for couples?

^ the "standard" BBVA loan allows additional borrowing for living costs, but I am not sure of the particular details in this case. If you have no savings and do require additional funding you could look at getting a professional career development loan from the Co-op bank. You can borrow up to £10,000 unsecured at around a 10% interest rate, the government pays the interest on the principle whilst you are studying.
I have no idea about OAA accomodation in Oxford, but you will spend 5 months in PHX and I doubt you could live with the other half there.

Gutted that OAA have extended their assessment day dates, I got an acceptance email though on the 17th and at that time they only offered assessment's up until the 30th September. I'm currently abroad doing research for a Uni project and was due back late on the 30th so booked a flight home a day early at considerable expense just so I could make the assessment on the 30th! If only I'd known! Will be horrible if I now don't get through this stage

If you read their website properly, you will stumble upon this:
"If you don’t have the GCSE/A-Levels (or equivalents) that we’re looking for, but hold an Honours degree at 2:1 or above, we would be very happy to use that as evidence of your academic achievement."
If you want to apply before 2013, I doubt anyone can tell you if they will or will not knock you back. I think they will look at each case individually and decide.

these schools have found a new way to get customers by using the BA iron carrot!
I doubt you will get employment aftter spending all this money. They can not even guaranty you a paid job at the end.job promess worths nothing these days.
try to get this in writing, I doubt they will sign you a contract before spending all this money in a fl9ght school.
you take all the risk, and I bet you will finish with nothing! BA don't need pilots.The need captains.

As I have been abroad with dodgy internet connections I have only just got back to all the threads, and my e-mails.
I have also received a no from OAA (well 5 infact, they must really have wanted to make sure those of us with multiple replies got the message).
There would appear to be a lot of speculation as to why people have or have not got through, etc etc. For us on the outside of the loop between BA and the FTOs anything written here is mere speculation.
So where do we who failed this time go from here?
Well the last time I got through to the second round I never actually got a date to attend as after September 11th BA cancelled the cadet scheme. A lot of people here (mostly seemingly in the know) have said chin up keep trying. This is in my estimation the best advice. With this many applications one small mistake on your form or difference of opinion from the assessor will mean an automatic no. Personally I am not giving up. I know the job I am doing at the moment is the best to keep me in with a shout in the future.
One problem for me is it is a long time since I had a good working knowledge of the FTO's and in particular OAA (OAT/CSE - for those who remember that far back).
On that basis I for one am prepared for once to take OAAs advice and go to see them on one of their seminar days as their rejection e-mail suggests. With any luck getting news / advice / feedback from the horses mouth will help further my cause in the future.
You may look at this post with the usual cynicism but life is too short to get depressed or frustrated by one no (or several for that matter). Those of us who are trying need to use every tool in our box and try every avenue to gain success (one that will no doubt be all the sweeter for trying). Once armed with even more information I will be trying again.
Best of luck to you all, getting through the first round is the start, if you are successful, of a very long slog. Hopefully see some of you on the flight deck in the future.

I just saw the new BA advert. WOW. I dont know if its on Youtube yet, but everyone needs to see it, it makes you tingle, your eyes water.
Go see it everyone. I personally think it makes a standalone advert for the FPP!!!

Like nelson says, wear suit every time. If you don't, they will remember you for the wrong reasons. Smart shoes, smart hair, don't wear anything too ostentatious and you will be fine!

Disregard my last. On closer inspection it was a rejection from the OAA team, delivered via BA Recruitment email. Poor attention to detail on my part due to 14hrs on the move and a swift kick to the swingers regarding career ambitions.
Unlike the other posters' emails, however, there was no mention even of a very kind invitation to spend 200 quid playing computer games at Kidlington with a view to self-sponsorship, which is the thing I'm finding a little curious. It's one thing to get cut from the BA process, given the size of the competition. I have no real problem with that. It's another to think that they thought so little of me that OAA are going to pass on the opportunity to take the better part of a hundred grand off my hands without a closer look.
Among other things, I have a graduate degree from a top-25 US university, a BSc(Econ) 2:1, a fist-full of A levels and GCSEs (from pre-modular days when everything was decided by exams at the end of the two year course), 9 years' experience teaching undergrads at said top-25 US university, I've held a senior Qualified Gliding Instructor category with the Air Cadets and have a 30hr RAF Flying Scholarship under my belt. The only reasons I can think of off the top of my head for my instant rejection are my age (37) and the fact that I blew an SHL psychometric test for a BA graduate scheme (non-flying) out of my hoop a couple of months ago because they decided to ask me do it while I was high as a kite on pain medication following oral surgery. (I presume most of you are looking forward to having your wisdom teeth removed too.)
Oh well, tomorrow is another day. Well done to those who made the cut. Try not to it up.
