What is wrong with you tools still turning up or even thinking about it? You have read the posts, you've been informed by those who have been burnt and still you come, ignorantly thinking that somehow "I'm different, it wont happen to me". :ugh:

Sorry for those who have been burnt dealing with HKA. Read the posts here, they tell a story, this crowd of incompetents are not going to change. This is a company that doesn't survive in any true business sense, Hainan airlines are throwing money down the toilet with this project, they have their reasons and there are a lot of theories as to what those reasons are. In a nutshell, if you really don't have any alternative, , you are prepared to throw your savings away trying to stay afloat in Hong Kong, AND, you think that you have a long range plan, then go ahead, otherwise you are playing with fire if you deal with these people.

The Singa Snakes are slowly being removed, but they are only the tip of the iceberg, remember that they had to fool the owners of the airline for them to get where they did. What does that tell you about the management?

Cathay just announced a 4% increase in salary to match inflation plus a 13 month salary bonus.

I was wondering if HKA receives inflationary salary increase each year. If not are HKA pilots happy to receive a further 4% pay cut? :uhoh: Because if you do not get salary increase with inflation it means you are getting a pay cut:=

genuinely sorry to hear you wasted your time and money on going to a HKA (or was it HKE ) interview. I'm very tempted to say "we told you so" but I know that won't help you. The lesson is; even if you've been unemployed for 14 months, don't bother with these crooks/incompetents. Infact, if you've been unemployed for 14 months you're the last person that can afford to waste money on airfares, expensive accommodation and more expensive beer by coming to HK.

i'm sure you already know; there is no annual pay increase at HKA/HKE, infact the total package is still worse today than it was in Jan 2008 - that's one of the reasons why pilots are leaving, as well as bad rosters, low annual leave, no trust in management, no housing allowance, no school fee allowance, no pay for sim or safety pilot duties, no proper commuter contract option, crap hotels................................

Any news on the 60 or so pilots who are still in training? Is that a combination of f/o and cptn? have they actually hired anyone since the last interview batch?

If anyone can demise HKA, surely Ryan Goh can or has he changed by becoming Head of Corporate Safety.

I'm not sure if anyone has been offered a job with an actual start date but I was there in early November and got an email last week:

Following your recent interview with us, you are on our list of candidates who can be hired. However, we have stopped recruiting A330 Captains as we have reached our target numbers for this year and next year. We will resume hiring only in 2012.

We shall keep your name in our pool of pilots for A330 employment should the need arise.

Thank you for your interest in Hong Kong Airlines and for the time and expenses you incurred in coming for the interview in Hong Kong.

There is a hot rumour running around Dragonhouse that the CAD has pulled the approvals on a number of A330 trainers at HKA.

How to increase your pay at HKA
 

It is about 18 months since HKA pilots (and HKE pilots) had a pay rise and the total package is still worse than was before they made sudden change to the contract March 2009.

A big part of the pay is flying duty pay (but nothing for flying as Safety pilot, in simulator as a check or as support, positioning or supernumary) so try these, pay boosting tips;

- always take time taxiing
- use slower speeds
- make big diversions around "weather"
- never ask for shortcuts
- never ask for a more expeditious runway
- always use runway full length
- when delayed by flow control, ask to pushback early and hold position after engine start

I seen all these ideas used (most by local guys - they love the money) and they work good.

Anybody have more ideas?

I was reading SCMP and notice a story in the business section where a Japanese company is applying to the Hong Kong court for a wind-up order against HKA. Apparently it's over some unpaid debt that HKA owed to the Japanese company. I forgot the details, can anyone post the story here or provide more info on this? Because if by chance, this Japanese company actually succeed, you will all really get the demise of HKA story.

2010/12/08 08:53 Team Cignus, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyo-listed NEC Capital Solutions, filed apetition in the High Court to wind up Hong Kong Airlines.According to a directors' report for the year ended March, Team Cignus, an Irish-registered company, leased an aircraft to Hainan Airlines, which then subleased it to HongKong Airlines. Hainan Airlines controls Hong Kong Airlines.As of March 31, Team Cignus was owed US$1.55 million by Hainan Airlines, the directors'report said. Hong Kong Airlines subsequently provided Team Cignus with a plan to settleoutstanding rentals worth US$1.8 million and default interest.
