I have been reading this thread and I cant see the demise this thread has been talking since 2008 coming anytime soon.

HKA have bought spanking new planes...and they have a long que of pilots from all over the world for the A330 DEC...

and I think Singaporeans are better than the mainlanders by a million miles..

So only time will tell if HKA makes its..so lets sit and watch..

Do-27 5th Nov 2010 05:21

Hi Qar!,

Totally agree with u:D. No one believed planes will come.....it seems like they are here..... crazy one the other side they are short of crews with som mnay pilots in the market.....i guess is because the conditions,,,besides other places have even worst...:ugh:

The orders of the planes means just an intention of interets of the company to grow up....thats all, many others around the globe failed after a while....and had similar plans....:\...specially if the inverstors have leasing companies asociated or they are co-owners....

I heard some pilots moving from Singapoure airlines to HKA.....:eek::confused:...and they are nationals!!!!! u explain me this move..even if tey are f/o....

Have safe landings u all!!:ok:

hekokimushi 5th Nov 2010 12:28

are they actively hiring?? or temp suspending hiring due management change over?

Hi Belowmsa,

Dont really know what to believe of what youre writing. Have some friends flying / in training for HKA and they have 24H internet in their room paid by the airline. I chat with them every day.
If thats already wrong, what about the rest ? Would appreciate receiving constructive info for choosing to join HKA or not.
Thanks

Tziganul 5th Nov 2010 18:39

I guess it all depends on how people plan their financials before getting there. If I read this thread correct, it's about 6 months till fully operational, therefore, if you know the conditions and are still going, then, you shouldn't be on this thread and bit...

however, i do agree with the people who have been told lies and unfortunately are stuck there until their time is up for somewhere else.

it's all in the choice you make, some have one, some don't, hopefully for those who are there now, things will get better in the near future.

Do-27, SQ F/Os are joining for the quick command otherwise in SQ it is a 9 year wait.
Those who come are close friends of the idiots who have promised them instructor
ratings and possible management.

Soon HKA will be like Arik Air of Nigeria. When the losses get higher the pay issue will start.
Even Hainan is not a bottomless pit. Arik bought A340-500s and A330s. They have also ordered
B777ER & LRs including B787s. They are considering A380s. Isn't it the same as HKA, Arik also changes
management personnel often. Now they don't even have a permanent MD, CEO or DFO. Both announced big
plans and these are changing every day. Just read about Arik Air, Nigeria - not enough pilots because
plans become too ambitious and they run out of money. Both are buying planes for money laundering.
Arik's pilots getting paid late and irregular, but got paid. Both have planes sitting on ground.

As in Arik, just join and get your rating, 500hrs then go. Bond is illegal in HK. If they sack you
unfairly go to Labour Tribunal. So far all those who have gone to the Tribunal because of improper
terminations, won big money. The Benetti case, I believe is still on, and that claim is into the millions.

QAR, Singaporeans are no better, and is why they dare not claim that otherwise their big brother
will show them who is stronger. The reason the Chinese mainlanders are not here in HKA is because of
immigration issues and complicated Chinese Airline laws for pilots jumping ship.

The Singaporeans can't do anything until their government tells them what to do. When they get out of
Singapore it is freedom and they misbehave. See what happen to their COO - embarrassing termination.

Demise need not have to be soon. The longer it is the more painful it gets when it happens.

BelowMSA, the problem with the CAD here is that they cannot keep confidentiality. They will inform
your company even if you send in a confidential report. You need to tell South China Post.
They love publishing HKA stuff.

12buynow 6th Nov 2010 07:34

Hi Dan,

of course, I did that, and still do.
I think would be easier for all if at least the mentioned facts were correct.

Feelings are another story, and are fully personal. And I respect these.

belowmsaagain 6th Nov 2010 10:07

I'm starting to get tired of this demise.. yawn!!!!

This 'poorly' managed company paid me 17k USD flying to Moscow and Beijing only. Talk about putting bread on the table, this is hard work! ;)

I don't know what is the deal with all the whiners here in HKA. IMHO, analistic forrumers here are most probably morons that got sacked with previous crazy management with evil intentions. Others are probably hiding behind a nick to create chaos for their own political agendas or what not. Example: RS(Stew?), big and PERFECT ex-model ex-Qatar boxing pilot from Portugal or perhaps the "know it all" Spanish pilot who wanted to come and babysit all Captains?

I just hope 'something' will come and take them all away from my beloved new company who is paying me a mediocre salary and poor lifestyle. NOT!!! :p

Evil, evil!

condorbaaz 6th Nov 2010 13:28

Believe few people from India are joining.

jetjoker 9th Nov 2010 20:03

Any rumours on the new rotes for the A330 cargo and pax?

Surely SIN BKK PEK and MOW can't pay back for all those shinny airplanes.

Any more European routes? I heard IST and MAN are in the cards.

break_break 10th Nov 2010 00:57

Was invited to join not too long ago, while sitting on the offer, was quite surprised to read how stupid a mainland chinese company can be to let a group of inexperienced ex singapore chaps ruin the whole thing. I'm sure they will find out sooner or later that they are sinking the ship?
On the other hand, was also told by someone that I met during my interview, that most if not all the singapore guys are ex criminals. Especially the fleet manager(stand corrected of his portfolio but one of the management for certain) was apparently caught shoplifting and as a result lost his co pilot job with SIN AIR? Also another that was caught with smuggling and suffering the same consequence and these people are all running HKA. If any of this is true, you new joiners will need lots of luck in hoping that they will have any respect at all with your contracts.
What a pity, to see a well positioned airline going into admin in matter of time. The demise continues, slowly but surely.

Shawn Fynn 10th Nov 2010 10:00

The Singawhores

I don't know whether the Singawhores are criminals, but they certainly are a bunch of incompetent buffoons. Generally they can best be described as an assortment of failed captains.

Their ranks have been thinned though, Ronal (Mamasan) has been sacked and Dick Stew has been forced to leave. That only leaves two, Little Dicky Lie and Mdm. Wu Wu (Ronal's prized possesion, but she turned on her Mamasan).

Time will tell.:D

break_break 10th Nov 2010 13:22

Yes I was told about all the characters that you wrote, what a disgrace. The ones that I was told, are not them (I'm sure shoplifter and smuggler specifics are not that difficult to pinpoint, and I certainly won't want to defame anyone in particular unless it's for certain), but similarly a bunch of failed or sacked co pilots from Sin Air that made it through their connection and getting their upgrades. What I'm amazed was how this could go unnoticed and they are allowed to make important decisions. Boy oh boy, how silly is that.
Won't waste anymore of my time with this bound to fail airline, it's just sad to see so many innocent parties might be affected.

heard from inside that no more new long hual at present is because CAD said no.

Cpt. Underpants 10th Nov 2010 16:29

No ETOPS authority and no LWMO/LVP authority make it extremely difficult to operate to Europe in winter.

hongkongfooey 12th Nov 2010 01:26

No ETOPS authority
Yes, I was wondering where the ETOPS approval ( as written on the nose gear doors ) came from :E

QAR 12th Nov 2010 04:43

non 330 rated HKA

Does anyone know from the inside what is the hiring status for non A330 rated pilots?

are they still hiring or will they hire in the future?

hke.whistleblower 13th Nov 2010 00:58

I can give some information on the HKE side. Things are screwed up there as well.

3 pilots resigned in the last month. 2 more Captains shortly. At least 3 First Officers are waiting for results of recent interviews and the company seems happy to just sit back and let it happen with no attempts at all the better the terms and conditions.

Will the management ever realize that it will save the company money to keep pilots and to keep pilots they need to improve the package? To improve the package does not necessarily = more money. Just get their **** together and improve rostering so pilots can all enjoy some decent block time off each month, increase annual leave to 6 weeks per year, and give pilots a ticket to travel home on a confirmed seat once a year. That would be a good start. Giving pilots more than 2 weeks’ notice that the annual leave application is approved would also be helpful.

S.W still runs his mates club there. There are many who want a commuting roster, but only a select few get it, and there is no fair system to select who gets it. If the newest captain or First Officer wants commuting and cuts a deal with WU he will get it over a guy with the highest seniority.

HKE is the bitch of the two companies. HKE gets good routes and does the good work and makes the routes profitable and HKA just comes along and takes them for HKA and gives HKE the low yielding/unprofitable routes. They get the ****, they do what they are told they get no expansion, no new aircraft but in fact they are a far superior company with much higher standards and past safety record than the bully sister HKA. HKA wants to keep HKexpress a small company because they know they are better and they are insecure that the leaders at Hainan will soon realize this.

For those considering joining, be careful. The airline industry is buoyant and there are better opportunities out there. Stay clear of HKE and HKA or better, attend the interview and just laugh when they explain what you get with your contract. If you’re a pilot in either of the companies, now is the time to band together and get what you want. It is a pilots market, and you have all made the sacrifices for those companies in the past troubled years. Now it's time for the company to reward you for your efforts and pay up.

Questions

I have been keeping an ear out around the office this week but it is very quiet from HKA side of the room.

Can any one answer these questions for me?

1 How many pilots from a country south of Hong Kong recently employed has failed there A330 conversion training at Airbus????? (out of 40 I have heard greater than 50%)

2 How much money has this cost the "Group" ?

3 Will the company again hire pilots without giving them a pre employment sim evaluation again? ( seemed like a good idea at the time to save money but has once again cost the company $$$$$$$$$$$$ )

I ask this last question already knowiung the answer but any way.

4 Will any one be held responibale for this latest mess up?

Did the interview with you a few weeks back, as a matter of fact about 2 weeks. Still didn't even got a thanks for playing letter. All that effort for nothing, :) hell but it sure was fun to do some partying in HKG :ok: , would I do it again? ABSOLUTELY! Call me crazy but there's just something about that city that makes you feel alive!

ps. sorry to hear that all 17 candidates didn't fit the profile of the company, guess we weren't special enough
