No-one should be using a mobile phone during a meeting. Any meeting.
Have it on vibrate and discreetly leave the room if it's urgent.

You are either in the meeting or not.

Height of rudeness and total disrespect for the members he was meant to be representing.

Anyone up for a picket line next to the Unite one in support of BA?

Evidently Acas( they have made public their concern via BBC) as well as BA were deeply disturbed by the tweeting where the public were privvy to a basic running comentary of the talks.Certainly the invasion did not help matters.

I was sooo happy to hear that the court has granted the injuction...and sad that bassa won the appeal. I was hoping that those senior lazy people who brainwash the "new" ones and those militant new silly people that take the bassa pill with their contract, would eventually get sacked and the atmosphere will clear... It is so frustrating for us to work all the time and having to face two things... or we have to shut up and get home or in our rooms feeling like screaming from all the nonsense we hear, or speak and express our opinion and then face isolation for the whole trip. I dislike Willie, I hate bassa...all they managed is to create a civil war... We take sh... from BA, from the union(thank god I left, so one side has left me in peace) from the press, we take it from PAX, we now take it from ground staff and pilots, and the most ridiculous, we now take it from our own colleagues in the cabin...

Some pilots think we all swim in the same river so they treat all of us badly...

Such a discriminative airline... LHR-LGW old contracts-new contracts, long haul-short haul, part time-full time...enough... Lets be one thing, one BA...

for those that think that cabin crew in BA are well paid...well SOME of them are... I joined 5 years ago with a basic of 10,400, after 5 years it is now 13,600... Ona good month with 4 3 day 8 sector trips, I can get maybe 1,800... A couple of times those 5 years I got slightly over 2,000...(with lots of overtime) just a bit lower than the basic of an old contract... Thats nothing comparing to what Jal, Ana, or Bmed used to pay...

Can someone stop that? How much can we tolerate? I said again that I dislike Willie, but I really hope he will sack them all... ST?well tough luck! They knew they would lose it...same as they lost their brains...they do not know what this strike is about anyway...

See you at work tomorrow!

What a fabulous idea! Count me in!
We should have banners saying

Just watching skynews...am devastated the strikes are going to go ahead and hope crews cross the picket lines in droves - I will be - my dad was a pliot with BEA and his pension and my parents future relies on the pension fund..I'm not prepared to put their future into the hands of these idiots in UNITE.
I was lucky enough to be on days off on the last strike and was relieved not to have to make a difficult decision..I've always been a member of BASSA and been a proud member of BA but enough is enough.
UNITE not longer represents the views of most crew - everyone I speak to is sick of their juvenile behaviour and tweeting during this life changing meeting is the final straw. He obviously had NO intention of negotiating and I wonder if he invited the Socialist Workers to storm the meeting..

Regardsless, I'm resigning from BASSA and intend to do the best I can to preserve BA and it's future.
If you are thinking of striking please re consider - no one will win...but we may come out of this with jobs and a secure future, if we strike, it's game over...

So the strike goes ahead. I have always thought this would be a fight to the finish. BASSA seem to have lost the plot and I fear for the future of the strikers. I hope BA survives and the wonderful crew and other staff who have supported BA get to experience a great company in harmony. The strikers will not be missed and clearly do not want to work for BA.

Curly Worly your fathers pension is safe as he is already in receipt of his pension. Those at risk are current staff who have not reached normal retirement age.

By all account Unite has been keen to make an agreement but Bassa keep on saying no to it. I'm not there - I've no idea. But if that's the case, perhaps the anti-Unite stuff is a bit misguided.....

And as for the Tweeting, though inappropriate, I'm not sure it's as big a deal as seems to be being suggested.

Also, I still cannot believe that people on here are acting like a blood thirsty pack of animals, calling for the heads of all strikers.

EVERYONE involved in this dispute - whether striking or not - is doing what they believe to be right. They should be respected for standing up for their beliefs.

We may not all agree with what they're doing and we may recognise the damage that is being done every hour, minute and second that this continue. But while expressing our views about the dispute, we should all be mature enough to refrain from attacking those involved in it.

I've been attacked for my views about this situation and I find it deplorable - I feel no differently about any attack made in the other direction.

When I first saw on here about the Twitter business, I couldn't believe it and had to go on the BBC web-site to check it and make sure it wasn't a belated April fool story.
Is it BASSA/UNITE policy to do their utmost to ensure they've no chance of any support from the rest of the BA workforce and the wider public?
As a member of another union in another part of the airline, I support any colleague's right to strike in pursuit of a genuine grievance and until now I've chosen not to do any Backing BA/CSP work that replaces a striking CC member or enables someone else to do so.
However, I'm increasingly unable to justify to myself why I shouldn't do anything I can to help BA survive the IA.
UNITE can't claim to be the victim's of BASSA's unreasonableness. Issuing public updates during talks shows an inability to negotiate in good faith.

Breakdown of negotiations

Actually, it is the reason for the breakdown of talks as Willie Walsh has lost trust in Unite to negotiate properly. And to think that Unite said that a reason to reject BA's Way Forward agreement was their loss in trust in WW. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black ...

No, no, no TW, asking for everything you want (ie ST resinstated) is not a 'goodwill gesture'. It is a demand for everything you want, in return for what? Nothing but a return to the negotiating table.

To me it seems like the union side have completely lost the plot.
A strike should be a means to en end, but in this case it might just bring about an end they say they don't want.

Anybody betraying the confidentiality of the negotiating table shows himself incapable of honest negotiations, and I wonder if BA now have a legal case in that there is evidence that there is no desire from the union side to find a negotiated solution.

To the CC that are still members: either leave and get yourselves a private or collective legal insurance, or expect to be held guilty and accountable for BASSA's actions by association. You are an absolute minority in BA's total workforce. There is no more fence to sit on, this has escalated too far.

I don't know if the non-BASSA union members can force a change, but if you no longer feel represented by those who speak and act on your behalf using your money to ruin your livelihood, then do something about it.

As if the ash disruptions were not harmful enough..

BA focuses on customers after union rules out more talks

Here is the statement released by BA today.
BA said today (Sunday) that it will focus on contingency plans for its customers following Unite's decision not to hold further talks.

The airline said it was surprised to learn through the media that Unite was not available for further negotiations. Discussions between the two sides were halted yesterday after protestors stormed the building where the meeting was being held.

BA had been in contact with the conciliation service ACAS with a view to resuming talks ahead of the cabin crew strike due to begin at midnight.

A spokesperson for the airline said: "Our focus will now be on flying tens of thousands of our customers to where they want to be in the world every day that strike action takes place."

All flights at London Gatwick and London City will operate as normal. At Heathrow, the airline expects to operate more than 60 per cent of longhaul services and more than 50 per cent of shorthaul flights and it will add to that schedule where it can.

Whilst I really want to see a resolution to this dispute, I do hope that WW does not just reinstate the strikers ST perks and service. It was made abundantly clear the consequences of striking in relation to travel concessions and cabin crew stuck their two fingers up to it and said "they didn't want them anyway".

WW will appear to be weak and to have cried wolf (this is not just relevant to this dispute, but all the inevitable future disputes with BA if BASSA remain). It will also demonstrate that BASSA's assertion that "we will get you travel back don't worry about BA", is correct and again they hold the power.

WW cannot have come this far and not see this through, he has not acted in bad faith, he has done exactly what he said he would do.

I also think he will face some hostility from all the other BA employees that are VCC, those sacrificing time, money etc to back BA if he folds......

His words will be hollow now and in the future if he loses his cojones on this one........he is so nearly there.

The company owes a duty to the vast majority of its employees who have not taken industrial action, these people need to see that the mental and physical aggravation they have endured has not been for nothing.
If the company now reinstates benefits 'as if nothing had happened' then they, the remainder and largest portion, will all be let down.
WW now needs to make a single positive action to reassure those employees who have stood by the company that their efforts were not in vain.

Woodley's offer is just to resume talks and call off the strike-for now! If ST is reinstated he cannot remove when inevitably talks break down. Woodley is just trying it on. I hope WW sees through it.
I agree with previous posters. All those who "Backed BA" would have been let down.

I cannot see the point in Willie doing anything to cancel or postpone the strikes now due to take place.

He's got contingency plans in place to fly most of our customers and those who won't be flying with us will have been booked on other airlines. VERY few customer are actually going to be disrupted because of the strike as a result of the plans made by BA.

Walsh is smart - he'll probably sit back now, let the strike happen, and see just how well the airline handles it. He'll also take particular note of how many people - crew and volunteers - show up to man flights.

IF, after dealing with all of that, he decides that the next five days will be more damaging to BA than he'd first expected, only then will he probably consider giving the staff travel back.

But having said that, I really doubt staff travel is going to be returned in its original form to strikers.

This is a man who effectively shut a whole airline down to get his way.

Here he's facing the prospect of being able to run 70% of the operation, strong support from every other area of the company and by the looks/sounds of things, a lot of support from those high up in Unite.

I fear we're going to see the full 15 (read : 17) days of disruption take place.

And at least 70 percent of the operation take place, albeit with reduced onboard service, that is not at all a bad percentage!

It's worth remembering that BA is a business, and as such, the main shareholders expect Walsh to rid the business of the BASSAmentalists. Nothing else will do. At the begining of all of all this Walsh said, " I will not let the Uniobn ruin this airline". IMO, he's doing a pretty good job of exposing BASSA/UNITE for what they are.

OK - so in the light of the Union's offer to call-off strikes if Staff Travel is reinstated, do we at last have a solid reason for the strike?

We must have - Strike or Staff Travel - it has come down to this.

So, what the heck have the last six months been about then?
Is the offer about crewing levels - promises about NF - pay-rises and expenses better or worse than it was at the start of all this?
I would guess it's worse.

In other words, the industrial action has been about NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING - apart from a few stamping of feet cos they don;t like WW.

Willie, Willie Willie - out, out, out?
Let's say he does step down.

New man in place - CC decide they don;t like him either. (Can assure you they wouldn't cos WW actions is Board sponsered)
Back to square one.

Ridiculous.

Imposition? No imposition if you do not negotiate.

Cuts - essential for the airline to survive. Everyone else in the airline has negotiated. Why can't CC?

Staff Travel - not even an issue at the beginning, total sidetrack.

Discplinary actions - tried and trusted method for this outside the current dispute. If someone has been unfairly treated, it will go to tribunal. Nothing to do with strike.

WHAT DO YOU WANT? Really - spell it out - cos I am a very confused and angry employee right now.
