I can totally understand what cc23 is saying. Things in that part of the world are not done very systematically. Here in the West, you do something and get it done, or else you use measures to get things in order. There it totally depends on who you are dealing with, their mood, the general attitude around the situation and sometimes to the extent if they want to deal with you, or else send you to someone else.

Things can be systematic and if it were not so AUH and Etihad would not be where they are today, but it all depends who you have when dealing with, which usually means there is more than one of that kind, sometimes an entirely different mentality altogether within the group and contrary to the way things should really be done. Like cc23 said, the job itself is not bad but it's what you have to endure around you later.

As per CC23...

Pretty much said it all.....But it is expected..This company is only new and is growing way too fast...yes broken promises and that..Im giving EY a few years and things should be stable and smooth.. Im here for the long run....
We are short of crew & Aircraft in general. They are working us to the bone..
But im enjoying it..thats why I joined.. to fly and every flight is an experience...The first few weeks organising bank accounts etc etc is abit hectic..but once graduated and online its all downhill from there.

To all who will be flying over in the next few weeks...your most likely be staying at Le Meridien, Sheraton Khalidiya and other Hotels in AUH...All accomadation towers are full...until the new ones are completed soon.

medicals....

Just a question... if you get the go ahead to do the medicals and you send them in and get approved once you get to AUH do they do there own medical exams also? Its just a lot of money to spend just to have them do it again, but I guess thats how its goes. Or once you send them in you have the approval and you go right into training and thats it?

Email or Phone number

Hello Ppruners !!

I need your help here , can anyone provide me with a working email address or a phone number for the "Etihad airways cabin crew recruitment".??

I was shortlisted for an interview in the UK but unfortunately i wont be able to to attend , so i was thinking to ask them if there's any chance of changing the interview location as its easier for me to be interviewed somewhere else .

Thank you n all the best.

HI

Hi there, I'm an Etihad wannabe too.. I filled up the online application form, if I check the status now, it is UNDER REVIEW. The assessment is in the middle of the month already.
I read in the previous Etihad thread that it is okey to call the Recruitment team and follow up the status of your application. Will someone be kind enough and PM me the number?
I'm not living in the city where the assessment is taking place, and several arrangement needs to be made if ever I am shortlisted (I hope so).
Thank you and Good luck to us all

Hey Fahim

Congrats that you got so far....What was the presentation all about, was curious on the day I attended....Hey if you made it to the final round that is very good, in case you need to do it again. Well as mentioned on this forum some get told they aren't going ahead even if they made it to the final round...so you just hang in there....And how long did the final interview last and what did they actually ask you....Did you have two interviewers at the final interview, with one interviewing you initially. For now, just hang in there...

Hey Fly high

I believe you are talking about the initial assessment, right? In that case, you would need to get an invitation from them to attend it...Or they might just have a registration day that you can attend. I don't think you can contact them at this stage...Maybe someone else can advise you?

I know some people who already received "not shortlisted email". I didn't receive one, but I didn't receive an invite either. I know another person who has the same status as mine in the etihad career site, that is "under review"..
I'm just getting paranoid. Thanks

hi fly.high,

They changed the date of the Brussels interview and I thought they will even cancel it,so I almost lost hope, but finally I received my invitation 2 days before the assessment day, thanks god I have organized my trip to Belgium quickly...so
I really do not know how normally should be and how many days before the interview they start to send the invitation...so just be patient. If the assessment in your country is scheduled for the middle of the month,I think you should wait few days...I hope you will receive it on time.good luck

Reply to all the questions i recieved

ok so in response to the emails i recieved after my post.. and to all the the questions i recieved... when choosing btw EK and EY i cant tell u which one is best.... its all about ur own personal experience... im sure they both have their good points and bad points... and all i can share with u are my points with my experience from etihad.. yes, the company has disappointed me time and time again, and especially with their stance and action on a certain issue which i cannot state online. Please dont get me wrong im not someone who likes to whinge or complain about everything, cos if i was i would've left on the 2nd day of arrival, i just expected more from the company, regardless of how new they are, because being new cant always be used as their excuse for everything, especially when common sense should be involved. I guess the points that im allowed to go into detail are the following:

firstly before arriving, as im sure everyone also experienced this.... it took them about 3-4 months to sort out my medicals and security papers after i handed everything in to them. back and forth of endless phone calls and emails, which most of the time led to nothing. once arriving here they booked my tickets for 3 days late of my commencement date, which meant i couldnt join training from day one, which meant i was responsible in chasing up everything i missed out on (uniform fittings, medicals) without their assistance. next.... Accomodation is disgusting! Ok well that was my accomodation, ive heard that not everyones accomodation is dirty and has a creature invasion, its just the luck of the drawer and which ever building they put u in. (oh and before u say anything i wasnt expecting some nice villa or a mini emirates palace, i honestly was just expecting the basics of a nice and clean modest apartment) You can apply to be put into other accomodation, but there is no exact system for this. nothing is guarenteed, nothing is reserved, its basically first in best dressed and u need to visit the accomodation lady everyday which is mostly pointless cos she'll tell u the same thing every time u visit her.. "no sorry, we have nothing". School was nice, trainers are really nice and so are the nice cafeteria ladys. Some people had trouble organising a bank account and getting paid on time.... in ur contract u will recieve some information on bringing atleast USD$100, make sure u bring a lot more than that, as most of us were living off beans for 3-4 weeks..due to payment delays and HR's poor excuses. Also if ur bringing excess baggage, they most likely wont pay u on arrival of AUH as stated, u'll most likely be paid 1-2 months after.... With getting all ur paper sorted including medicals, perminent visa, liquor licence etc, its not all straight forward, u have to go to one person then to another then to another and its all one big confusion, infact most of the country is like that, u really need patience in this extremist country. Auh is nice and quiet, but if ur a party animal then Dubai is the place to be as u might be sick of AUH's total of 4 nightclubs, which are all mostly etihad crew . On the plus side, generally the crew are really really nice, and u make friends fast. There are a few other points that i cant mention as to how this has been a run around, and there is no such thing as smooth sailing, infact the only thing that EY has done right and has gone 100% smooth sailing, is pairing me up with my flat mate, which coincidently we get a long really well, but like everything, that was just the luck of the drawer, i cant say that my experience will be exactly the way urs will be, its all individual. and if ur tossing up between EY and EK, again it all depends on ur individual experience, and u'll never know which one is for u until u try each one. im sure they both have good and bad points and from what i have heard from many people is that the salary and the layover time are both pretty much the same for EY and EK, the only major difference would be if u prefer to wear beige-sand colour or Grey-black everyday.... personally i prefer the grey-black

Clueless & Nervous

Greetings to all,

i've been reading these threads and my heart went out to those who did not make it through. and to those who did, congratz!
i just filled up an online application and am in the process of getting a full length corporate picture including the passport size picture. the open day in singapore is 21st this mth and i do hope that i get invited to the interview. im really nervous bout his whole thing and i've got sooo much questions to ask..
im going down to the photo studio today to get the pictures done. if i get invited for the interview, i know that it's gonna be formal corporate wear, but really, what is the best ensemble to wear? any tips pls? and what happens during the interview? cos i understand that there are some activities for us to do? is that right?
