Hey Craic1510, I just got back from my final interview feeing a little disheartened about how it went. As I am aware that you actually managed to get a job with Emirates I was wondering whether you were willing to shed any lkight about how you felt after your final interview. Were you confident that you had a job.

Just want to know if I should have any hope that's all...

Always always have hope! The moment you start to doubt yourself, it will just get worse and worse and should you get any bad news, you won't be able to find the courage to try again!

I felt awful coming out of my interview...should I have said this, or I could have sai that...did I sit up straight or smile enough?

Don't worry. Its all over now, whether you did good or bad...it doesnt matter...you must stay positive!!

I got a phonecall after a week, but I have been through the final interview stage before, and two open days before that! It could take anything up to six weeks...as my friend found out...but he got in!

If you don't get through, never see it as a setback! Always use the opportunity to learn from...and think next time you do it - you will know what to expect!

I wish you all the best in the world

u can also try being in dubai for a holiday and try finding some hotel jobs there first if u really wanna be in dubai...it could help

Actually its partly true... i heard from a friend that works for EK (no not Craic ) that managemtn are asking current line crew to reccommend anyone they think may be suitable, to be fast-tracked for interview. My friend offered to do it for me, and I will take up this kind offer when my commitments allow.

So yes it is true, but you have to know a current EK CC (and I mean KNOW them, not just someone you email...)

There is an open day in Perth coming up aswell, don't know the dates, just saw it in the paper!

Just though i'd post the following which was on the Qantas "News" website, just for a bit of a read, interesting.

"The Chairman of Qantas, Ms Margaret Jackson, said comments made on Tuesday by Emirates President Mr Tim Clark in relation to the terms on which airlines competed ran counter to the facts about the aviation industry.

"To suggest that Emirates is competing on similar terms as commercially-run airlines like Qantas is, quite frankly, fiction," Ms Jackson said.

Ms Jackson said that Emirates was 100 per cent owned by the Government of Dubai and that government ownership provided a sovereign risk rating that allowed the airline to carry debt levels far higher than could be sustained by publicly listed carriers such as Qantas.

Emirates paid no corporate tax in Dubai and its Chairman, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, was a member of the ruling family and Head of the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation, which also ran Dubai Airport.

"As Qantas has observed before, life must be wonderfully simple when the airline, government and airport interests are all controlled and run by the same people," Ms Jackson said.

"No one doubts that Emirates is a first class airline.

"At the same time, no one can be in any doubt that Emirates' remarkable growth reflects the aggressive and coordinated strategies of its owners, the Government of Dubai, to build a world class hub to grow tourism and business.

"This is a fact that all commercially-run airlines accept. It is time that Emirates acknowledges that it enjoys significant advantages that help set it apart from the field."

Ms Jackson said that the profits and ability to invest of Qantas and other private airlines would be significantly enhanced if they enjoyed the government-sponsored benefits of Emirates.

"As well as these structural advantages, Emirates is also benefiting in many international markets where the Australian Government has been unable to gain effective access or increased opportunities for Qantas to compete," she said.

"For example, most Australians probably do not realise that Qantas can only operate 28 passenger services per week between Australia and the UK. However, Emirates currently operates over 90 services per week between Dubai and the UK, giving it far greater opportunity to link the Australian and UK markets over its Dubai hub. Viewed in this light, Emirates' request to secure rights for 84 services per week between Australia and Dubai - double the number currently operated - is not only extravagant, but flies in the face of fair competition."

ROFL @ 'pms'...... hehehehe

Yes i am up waaay too late, still deciding what to wear (so maybe not brown, anyone else who is going.... i'll think of some way so you can pick me...)

maybe i'll just ask my standard 'Ramadan & Alcohol' question (heh sounds like some art house movie)

And I'll do a full write-up when I get back.... oh my god twenty dollars says either or both Danni/Amelita will be there...

lets have some guesses as to which if only one....

G'night!!

Another one down, another one bites the dust....

(sorry that Queen song was on the radio earlier )

Okay guys, another EK Open Day done and dusted (and yes, I got one of those 'thanks but no thanks' letters again - I'm not really that upset/annoyed about it) Have been along too many times to let it get to me these days! Lol!

Anyway it was pretty standard, must say though the Duxton is a heaps better place than the Sheraton... nicer lobby. (They could have a few more chairs though!!)

Recruiters, to my eternal, pledge-my-firstborn-in-thanks relief, were not Danni OR Amelita.... however on closer inspection to my dismay one of them was Rhonda (Rhanda??) the arab lady from the last few who stared me down last time... hehehe... she actually seemed a lot more friendly this time. The other was a blonde Austrian girl called Astrid. She struck fear into the hearts of many (perhaps Danni's protege?? ) I am sure she is nice, but appearances are what we all have to go by in this game....

when they were collecting all the sheets I was sitting on the end of the row, when she came to collect ours, I smiled as I handed them over, however she flatly looked away and refused to make eye contact (how rude)

Standard stuff really. The videos (god someone shoot me if I have to sit through that video again!!! ) Lots of guys there, one who the recruiters talked to for like 10 minutes (looks good for him, hey??) Also the sit down for 30 sec and hand in your CV thing....

Some really nice people. Also some dressed casually, again to my utter amazement some of whom got through to the next round. I'm sorry, but if youcan't be arsed to make an effort......

anyway

good luck to anyone who made it through (I know there was a lot today), try not to be too scared of them!! Lol

My friend got through though which is really all I wanted for the day... I figured if i got in it would be a bonus, I have other stuff in the pipline though so I didn't fall on the floor in despair... (maybe that is why they keep refusing me... I'm not showing myself to be desperate/appreciative/grateful/grovelling enough!!!! )

Sky

WHo's going to the next one? Is it SYD or Brissie up next???

OMG

SkySista

I must admit that slowly, but definitely u r becoming my idol!!!

How many times did u try EK? You remind me of one of my friends, she tried them 6 times, and she is still after them!
Where do u find such energy?!?!?

I tried EK 5 times, than I got a call from EY, and I got the job from the first!!! Joining them in less than two weeks!!!

Take care!

P.S I remember, when I attended EK open day in GLA, I failed and I went to a chinese restaurant. There I got one fortune cookie with the following message inside "TODAY, NOTHING CAN STOP YOU!!!" what a joke, EK obviosly stopped me, LOL

Damn those tricky chinese.

you should of gone to the resturant before the open day
that way you would of given the cookie a chance to work. who knows where you may be today if that had happened :P

Skysista, glad you had fun, especially without them two there!. though they didnt seem so bad to me. maybe they dont like younger/prettier girls. i remember that one of them interupted me while i was working up the courage to ask for some girls number. It was right before my interview so the whole time i kept kicking myself for what had just happened! didnt go to well for me i might add!

have you noticed that this EK forum is losing a lot of its momentum from how it was this time last year? last talk of the perth open day it was very busy, now its seems like only skysista went. i wonder if sydney will be the same.

thats enough ranting from me. i need to get my resume fixed pronto. are you planning to use the recomendation thingy sky? i might give it a go

once again. i'll stop typing rubbish

let's try again....

I made a huuuuuuuuge long post last night but the computer ate it!!!

lol @ cookie..... hehehehe

ultranate, i'm flattered!!! I think maybe one day they'll just get sick of me and give me a job, lol... I do seem a bit cynical and bag E out a bit, but hey I guess that's a coping thing when you get rejected so many times

as for the forum slowing, either most of them have now got jobs or everyone is sick of us serial-open-day-attenders!

maybe they're getting tougher on photos or something - I still had the same old one from the beginning of the year. I really must get around to going and getting a proper set done -but right now my car is about to implode so money goes on that thing!!!

my horoscope said "your plans relating to travel will materialise today". Um, err... whatever you say, mate...!

Reenita, HAHA!!! maybe it is!!!

PS - my mate got cut 2nd round. (okay so now we really know EK suck.... hehehe..... )

HI EVERYONE! Do airlines blacklist applicants on some occasions? May be applicants who submitt false information on purpose get blacklisted?!!? May be if you try EK again before waiting for your 6 or 12 months??? Does a black list actually exist in this case?
Thanks....!
