If I'm not mistaken.. it's only 6 months for your next reapplication.
Wish you luck on your next interview.
just for your information, I have few friends here who managed to get in after several interviews.

So don't give up!

French_Manicure >> The duration to wait before your next application will be one year, since you have been through the final interview. 6-months probation period is for those who've made it to all other rounds before the final interview.

reenita >> It doesn't matter whether you put in your university degree qualification. I have been reading some of the other posts you've posted, no offense taken, but I suggest you start using (speaking AND writing) proper English. Emirates is an international airline and they would expect their crew to manage proper English, not broken English. There is nothing wrong with Singlish, the accent. But please be careful with your grammar and sentence structure. It will prove to be fatal if your interviewers can't even understand you.

That's my 2-cents worth of advice, having been through the whole process.

Hi again! Its been a while so I thought I would put a post in to give a little advice to all of you hoping to get through with EK. I have read a lot of the latest posts and the same questions seem to be arising.

BlueVal is correct in relation to the re-application for EK, after being unsuccessful through the interview stages. If you get to the final interview and don't make the break, it is 1 year before you can re-apply. If you make it through some of the elimination rounds but not as far as the final interview, you can re-apply after 6 months. Don't worry though...you do not get blacklisted if you don't get through. EK like people who make the effort to re-apply as it means you are really interested in the job. There may be any number of reasons why you were not selected, so try try again. I went through 2 open days and 2 final interviews before i got the job, but I made it eventually. Some people are luckier than other so keep your chin up.

EK want people with customer service experience. There is no exceptions to this. The job is solely customer service related, so they need to see that you can work with people, no matter what background they come from. You have to be able to work within a team, as well as an individual. You have to be a leader, as well as a follower. You have to be unbias to every situation that arises and take advice, but also be able to give your opinion without being too dominant. They look for all of these things throughout the entire process. They also want people with a little personality! We are not robots when working in the air - we are human beings, so let your personality shine through.

As for those of you that do not have english as a first language...yes it is necessary that you can speak english in such a way that you can be understood by all! We are an international airline, and have over 120 different nationalities working for us, so if you do struggle a little with your English, put in a little effort to try and improve it before applying. As long as you have a great resume, without any errors, and can get through answering the interviewers questions...you will be fine. Anyone that has english as a secong language is asked not to speak their native language at anytime during training or in-flight. I must admit I do find it a little off putting, when a few crew members insist on communicating in their own language, as it is harder to work as a team and get to know people, when u can't understand what they are saying

Guys for the open days, just remember these important points:
1. Be well groomed at all times. Wear appropriate clothing, girls - skirts slightly below the knee with stockings, business attire, hair tied up, minimal jewellery, nice make-up and not too much perfume! Don't go over the top! They want to see you..not a dolled up version of you
2. Resume with no spelling errors, highlighting customer service experience, languages and any school/university details.
3. Professional photos!! One full length in your business attire, hands and legs showing - big smile!! Then a passport sized photo of head and shoulders! try and get them done professionally - I promise you it will make all difference!
4. Don't be late, the earlier you get there the better! It will give you time to relax and prepare yourself. Use the time to get to know others, as it will be easier for you when it comes to the elimination tasks. You will have to help each other get through, by working together.
5. In the group tasks, don't be too quiet and for goodness sake don't be too loud. If others are being quiet, just include them by saying "...what do you think about this...would you like to add anything?". If you have an opinion about something or disagree with something, say it in a nice way like "...i do agree with what you have said about....however, I feel that you could also do it like this...what do you think?". Don't be overpowering...you all need to work together!!

I want to wish everyone all the luck in world. EK is a great company to work for. The lifestyle is amazing, getting paid to see the world, make new friends and become independant living in a new country. Guys...relax and think positively. All i can say is every job is what you make it! yes every company has its problems, EK included...but if you just make the most out of every day - you are on the way to a successful life and career!!

Take care

That is a very good attitude, reenita. You will go far with that learning and humble attitude towards constructive comments. I applaud you.

Photos

Hiya,

I would like to ask about the photos you have put on your applications. I know that the best thing would be to get them taken by a professional. Although I want the job, at the moment I'm not ready to spend so much money and effort on them. On the other hand, I don't wanna send my application if the photos are going to stop me for getting an interview.

So has anyone get into interview or further with "bad" photos? Have you been succesful with "average" photos taken by your friend etc.?
I'd have some good photos ready, but the problem is that I'm barefoot in them .

NordicJetSet,

The photos are required to send to head office so they can decide who they want (though i guess the interviewers have a bit of sway in their reports too). so if you get to the final interview and the photos arent good enough, they will ask you to retake them. they are usually quite helpful in that respect, as i guess if youve made it that far, they want to help you as much as they can (curse of the job? :P) even though they need to pressure you and test you to see if youve got what it takes.

i didnt think i'd be back to posting on this forum, but my mate has been pestering me to get my butt over there. so i will be attending the sydney open day in december. unfortunately i went to my last open day in january or febuary or something (greetings to all those lovely perth people!) so it hasnt been quite 1 year since my final interview. But i have heard a few conflicting stories in that regard. so i will see.

craic summed it up perfectly what they are looking for! i think i should take a new passport one, and learn to smile

anyone else heading out to sydney!??

skysista, did you make it into etihad or a local line? i never found out what happened to you after perth

thats all for now

its been too long.

december 11th is at sunny old sydney. though i dont think us sydneysiders can be as welcoming and friendly as you perthverts.
i still can believe how friendly everyone was over there (though it may of been an act just incase there was EK spies in there to weed out the bitchiness!) im glad i got to see it.

hmmm EK hire you for the amount of time you put into this forum giving people hope! let alone your other qualities. hmm i wonder if i will be meeting danny and amelita again....

now.. to start finding some confidence for the last interview and learn some answers for those stupid behavioural type questions! damn i hate them...

Oh god if it's Danni and Amelita again I will just DIE!!!!

I'll just walk uop and offer to conduct the Q&A for them, I sure as heck have heard it all before!!!

Tried to send you a PM but my computer crashed, did you get it or not??

Nah I'd say the 'niceness' was mostly real, we're a bit too lazy to try pretend to be nice, but as you say there were quite a few paranoid people there... one girl in the loo thought that they had someone in there to eavesdrop on what we said!!! lol....

if it is them, i hope they dont remember me, and my terrible interview efforts.

It has probably been answered before but could someone please tell me for the Open Days do you have to be invited or do you just turn up with Resume and photos. The last ad in Australia i saw didn't say you had to be invited!! Any help will be greatly appreciated as I would like to give Emirates a shot!!!

wine o babe,

Just turn up with your CV, a smile and a positive attitude. The point of the open days is to give prospective applicants information about the position so they can decide whether to apply or not.

Depending on the amount of people they may or may not take CV's on the day (usually they will and if time have a quick chat with you).

If they like what they see they will usually call you back to come in again on the next day (Sunday the times i went) so be prepared to attend possibly two or even three days....

Best of luck!!

Cannard, I'll try again, I think it was my computer... (stupid piece of rubbish!!!! )

As for the video, every time I got stuck in such a position as to have to crane my neck to see even a bit of it... so if you see a girl running down everyone else to get a good seat it's probably me!!! (Not coz I'm selfish but because I've watched it like 3 times and still couldn't tell you what it was bloody well about!!!) Could tell what it said though, hearing wasn't a problem....!

EK interview day

Hi guys, if there is anyone that would like a full run downof the open day from start to finish give me a buzz in the next couple of days. I wrote one up for my friend to give her an idea of what to expect. quite happy to send a few out to you guys too. just a word document. Will be going back to Dubai on sunday though, so I can give out a few before and then depending on my roster I'll try when I get home too
